Chapter 17 The Title of Her Secret Man
With Olinka’s suspicious and surprised voice on the other end of the phone, Amanda felt cautious, and she hung up without another word.
At such a critical moment, she couldn’t let Olinka get hold of her mistakes and make trouble.
“Mr. Byran, I’ve been very polite to you. Please don’t push your luck.”
“Are you serious?”
Iverson narrowed his eyes slightly as he studied Amanda. “Miss Jewell, it seems you seduced me first, didn’t you?”
“That night was an accident.”
“I don’t think so.”
“Mr. Byran, I don’t know what kind of special hobby you have, but judging from the situation just now, I’m sure you have no shortage of women. You can get anything you want. Why make fun of me?”
Amanda was self-aware. Even though she was pretty, she was already married. How could Iverson possibly take her seriously?
He was just for fun!
“When you divorce him, I will tell you why.”
Amanda was so angry that she almost choked on her words.
So this man didn’t listen to what she just said, did he?
She was about to continue arguing for her, but then she remembered that if she angered Iverson, the project would fall apart. This was directly related to the assets she would get from the divorce party!
No, she had to calm down first.
“I’ll divorce him, but I’ll need some time. Mr. Byran, I’m sure you know this marriage involves all kinds of assets and connections. I’ll have to take it slow.”
Iverson nodded in agreement.
Amanda continued, taking advantage of the situation, “Mr. Byran, do you think the revised business plan is feasible? If so, can you sign the contract first?”
Iverson flipped to the contract’s last page and signed his name quickly without reading it.
Amanda’s face lit up with joy. Just as she was about to take the document, she was stopped in midair. Raising her head, she met Iverson’s cold and grim gaze. “Remember, you have five days left. I don’t have much patience left.”
Amanda shuddered.
“Mr. Byran, my calculations are not bad. I won’t forget. If there’s nothing else, I’ll go back and prepare for the project meeting.”
“What you should prepare is not the project meeting but the divorce agreement.”
“Yes, I’ll get ready. I won’t waste any time. Goodbye, Mr. Byran!”
Amanda cleared her throat and looked for an opportunity to escape from Iverson’s office.
The elevator went up from the 88th floor.
As soon as she got out of the elevator, Amanda was surrounded by cameras.
“Amanda, what’s your relationship with Iverson?”
“Is that you in the photo?”
“How long have you been maintaining such an improper relationship?”
“Does your husband know about this? Or has the Sean Group relied on this method to discuss the project since you married into the Sean Family?”
…
The interrogation was like a barrel of dirty water pouring down.
Amanda didn’t even have time to react before being caught off guard.
In the crowd, a mobile phone was raised in front of Amanda. It was a photo of her drinking at the bar two nights ago.
Amanda immediately understood.
These people didn’t want to live their own private lives. They wanted to dig up the gossip involving Iverson!
As one of the most eligible bachelors in Ducco, Iverson attracted many women’s attention. He had appeared in the headlines, but none of them had responded to him, nor had any photos taken of him. He could be said to be one of the most popular men in history.
“Aren’t you and Iverson the ones in the photo?”
Under the reporters’ interrogation, Amanda had nowhere to retreat.
At this moment, a calm voice came from behind her. “The man in the photo is me, but who gave you the courage to break into our Byran Group just because of this photo?”
As soon as Iverson appeared, the reporters took a few steps back.
“On that day, the senior executives of our group gathered at a bar. Do you need me to report the list of names to all of you?” Iverson strode to Amanda’s side and maintained a distance that could protect her but also politely.
The reporters were stunned and kept quiet out of fear.
A bold reporter craned his neck and asked, “But why is Amanda at the Byran Group’s dinner party?”Copyright by Nôv/elDrama.Org.
Iverson’s expression remained unchanged. “The Sean Group has always sought to cooperate with us, and Miss Jewell has put in a lot of effort to meet me.”
With that, he glanced at Amanda.
Amanda returned to her senses and immediately fished out a folder from her bag. “You’ve misunderstood me. I went to the bar to read Mr. Byran’s proposal, and if you don’t believe me, I can show you some of it.”
Iverson replied coldly, “If you finished reading, please check the lawyer’s letter from the Byran Group. It’s the first time that so many reporters and friends have barged in since the Byran Group was founded. My humble house is honored by your presence.”
As soon as Iverson finished speaking, all the reporters’ faces turned pale.
The Byran Group was wealthy and had a world-class team of lawyers, comparable to a first-class law firm. The Byran Group had never lost in the lawsuit over the years.
The reporters were scared out of their wits. No one dared to ask more questions.
After the reporters left, Amanda finally heaved a sigh of relief. “Thank you, Mr. Byran.”
“You’re welcome. After all, I don’t want to be called the other man.”
Amanda’s expression turned stiff and awkward.
“Let’s go. I’ll take you home.”
“No need.” Amanda came back to her senses and interrupted him immediately. “I still have something to do at the company.”
“I’m afraid the Sean Group is still surrounded by reporters today.”
Iverson’s words stunned Amanda.
When it came to Iverson’s romantic affairs, the reporters in Ducco would probably fight to get the first-hand news. Even if they couldn’t get anything out of Iverson, taking a few photos of him would be enough for several days.
“Jamie.”
“Yes, Mr. Byran, the car is ready.”
Iverson’s assistant had already prepared a car for her, giving Amanda no room to refuse.
Looking at the man’s upright back, she had to bite the bullet and follow him.
No one noticed that behind the elevator, behind a huge green plant, a figure had been standing, observing the expression on Iverson’s face.
The car drove out of the Byran Group’s garage and into the traffic, cutting off the hustle and bustle outside. The tall buildings retreated slowly outside the window, forming a sharp contrast with the quietness inside the car.
Amanda’s ringtone came from her handbag and returned her to her senses.
She took a look and saw that it was a call from Halley.
“Where are you now?”
“I’m…”
“I don’t care where you are. Go home now.”
Halley’s aggressive voice made Amanda frown. “Got it.”
Needless to say, Halley had read the news.
Good news never went out, but bad news spread far and wide.
