Chapter 67 I Cheat on You
“What secret?”
Amanda sneered. “Before we divorced, I cheated on you.”
Halley was startled. “What did you say?”
“Didn’t you say that you’ve seen many things? Why are you so surprised when it comes to yourself?”
“Say that again?”
Halley angrily grabbed Amanda’s hand. “When did this happen?”
Amanda didn’t expect Halley to use his hands. “Let go of me!”
“Let go? You b*tch!” Halley was so angry that his blood was boiling, and his face turned pale. He pushed Amanda hard against the wall and strangled her neck. “How dare you steal people, and you’ve taken half my money and my property?”
“Cough~~~”
Amanda tried her best to pat Halley’s face, but she was no match for a man’s strength.
The elevator door suddenly opened when she felt she was about to suffocate. A figure rushed out of the elevator. When Iverson saw the situation in front of him, he swung his fist and punched Halley. Then, he kicked him hard.
“Cough cough, cough cough…”
Amanda clutched her neck and coughed non-stop. Everything was spinning in front of her, and she couldn’t see what had happened. She fell to the side.
When she finally caught her breath, she saw a person sitting beside Halley. The person was beating Halley’s face over and over again fiercely.
“Stop!”
Amanda finally came back to her senses. She stepped forward and pulled him over with a hoarse voice.
Only then did Iverson stop.
Halley had been beaten black and blue, with his eyes, nose, and mouth all bleeding. He looked severely mutilated. He held his head and shrank back, trembling.
“Let’s go home first.”
Iverson escorted Amanda to open the door.
“Bang!” He shut the door.
Before Amanda could return to her senses, Iverson had already made a phone call and asked Jamie to go upstairs to deal with it.
After hanging up, Iverson turned to Amanda and asked, “Are you all right?”
Amanda wanted to say, “I’m fine,” but her throat hurt so much that she couldn’t speak. She could only shake her head.
Looking at the strangulation marks on Amanda’s neck, Iverson’s eyes turned even grimly. His frown was terrifying.
“Cough.” Amanda coughed.
Iverson returned to his senses and said solemnly, “I’ll pour you a glass of water. Have a seat.”
Amanda was about to say she would do it herself, but her throat hurt so much that she swallowed the rest of her words honestly. Please check at N/ôvel(D)rama.Org.
When Iverson returned with the water, she took a few sips to calm herself down.
“Why did you suddenly come up?”
“You left your phone in the car.” Iverson took out Amanda’s phone and put it on the coffee table.
Seeing the phone, Amanda finally understood. “Why didn’t you ask Jamie to send it to me?”
Iverson didn’t reply to that question.
Amanda raised her head in confusion, only to run into his gaze. She immediately panicked.
She had a vague idea why Iverson hadn’t allowed Jamie to come up, but she wasn’t sure. She was afraid that it was just her wishful thinking.
At this age, there was no more reason for him to find an excuse just to see her again.
“When Jamie is done, follow me to the hospital.”
When Amanda heard it, she came back to her senses. She followed Iverson’s gaze and subconsciously touched her neck. It was indeed a little painful. It was not difficult to imagine that it was bruised.
“It’s nothing. It’s just a minor injury. I don’t have to go to the hospital.”
After saying that, Amanda saw Iverson’s hand from the corner of her eye and exclaimed, “You’re hurt!”
The flesh on Iverson’s fist was torn and bleeding. It was obvious that he had been injured when he was wrestling with Halley.
Amanda hurriedly said, “I remember that there’s medicine at home.”
After saying that, she got up quickly and went to the bedroom to get the medicine.
Iverson had wanted to stop her and tell her that there was no need to deal with it, but when he saw how flustered she was, he didn’t know why, but he didn’t say it.
“The first-aid kit was brought by Jamie and Linda last time. They said that there are some common medicines at home. There should be disinfectant, gauze, and so on.”
Amanda opened the first aid kit as she mumbled to herself. After she found what she was looking for, she grabbed Iverson’s hand.
“Your skin is broken. Hold on.”
Amanda lowered her head and took a cotton swab dipped in betadine to disinfect for him. She was cautious and didn’t notice that the man in front of her was looking at her. His offish eyes slowly melted away.
Just then, there was a knock on the door.
Amanda raised her head. “It’s Jamie, right? I’ll go take a look. Don’t move.”
After saying that, she put down her things and went to open the door.
As soon as he opened the door, he saw two police officers at the door.
Amanda was stunned. “Who are you?”
“We received a report that there was a fight here. Are you one of the parties involved?”
“Report?”
Amanda was stunned. Who called the police?
“No.” Amanda looked behind the police officers. The place where Halley should have been lying was empty. She guessed that maybe Jamie had taken him away, so she denied it immediately.
The leading policeman frowned and said, “It’s true here. Is there anyone who reported a false case?”
“You all might’ve come to the wrong place.”
“What’s wrong?” Iverson came out and stood behind Amanda.
The police officer saw the wound on his hand and asked, “What happened to your hand?”
“Oh, how accidentally tripped,” Amanda explained before Iverson could respond.
Iverson could be considered half a public figure. If he went to the police station because of this, it would be very troublesome later.
The policeman stared at the two suspiciously. “You… aren’t domestic violence, are you?”
Amanda’s eyes widened. “What domestic violence? What domestic violence?”
As she panicked, Iverson said flatly, “We love each other.”
Amanda was stunned.
Looking at them lovey-dovey, the muscles on the corners of the two police officers’ mouths twitched. One of them quickly coughed to ease the embarrassment. “It shouldn’t be them. The report said that two men were fighting.”
Amanda couldn’t explain that she and Iverson weren’t husband and wife, nor were they domestic violent. She could only describe with a guilty conscience, “Maybe it’s another unit.”
The two policemen checked the unit building and door plate in confusion.
“Call the person who reported it.”
“Okay!”
Just as they were about to leave, a loud bang came from the corridor beside them.
Amanda’s expression changed, but she couldn’t stop them. The two policemen had already reached the corridor and opened the door.
In the dim corridor, a man was dragging another man’s leg. The picture seemed to be frozen, and they looked into the eyes of the policeman who opened the door.
They were Jamie and the Halley.
“Don’t move! Raise your hands!”
Jamie reacted quickly and immediately raised his hands. He hurriedly explained, “I didn’t kill anyone, I didn’t kill anyone. He’s still alive and just fainted! It’s a misunderstanding, a misunderstanding!”
Amanda covered her forehead.
After the examination, the police officers’ faces quickly darken.
“Come with us. You two too.”
