Chapter 26: He Is So Considerate
Chapter 26: He Is So Considerate
Macy doesn’t sleep well all night, tossing and turning, and finally fell asleep in the early morning. As
expected, there are some obvious black circles as she wakes up.
She rapidly gets washed, puts on makeup, and then goes downstairs. To her surprise, her mother is
busying in the kitchen now.
When she sees Macy, she immediately serves a bowl of millet porridge and some steamed stuffed
buns with joy, "My Sweetie, let’s have some breakfast."
Macy is stunned, "Mom…you cook this?"
"Impossible! I just bought it near our neighborhood. Hurry up and eat it before it goes cold!"
Since the Downey's bankruptcy, Macy has rarely seen her mother so happy. Sitting at the dining table,
she asks "Mom, why are you so excited today?"
"I was very lucky last night and won some money by playing Mahjong..."
With the spoon in the hand, Macy pauses and looks at her mother, "Mom, I told you we couldn't gamble
anymore."
Her mother waves, showing her objection, "It’s not a terrible game at all. Winning and losing are both
normal. You don't have to worry about it, Macy. I have a card up my sleeve "
Macy's face darkens, realizing that she is unable to persuade her mother, and she doesn’t want to talk
more nonsense. After quickly drinking the porridge in the bowl and saying goodbye to her mother, Macy
leaves home.
Before she never noticed that her mother is so addicted to gambling; besides, the current situation is
very complicated, and they don't have enough money to join in this kind of game. Unfortunately, her
mother does count on mahjong now.
Stopping thinking, Macy sighs and hurries to the Penn’s.
On the 22nd floor, she puts down the bag and deliberately walks around the door of the president's
office. It seems empty, so Yusef might have not arrived yet.
Macy goes back, prepares all the documents needed by Yusef in the morning according to the
schedule, puts them in the upper right corner of his desk, then returns to her own office and continues
to look through the documents of the South Sea Project.
Soon there is a noise outside the door. Macy goes to check quickly, but she only sees Yusef's back,
being followed by two subordinates who seems to be reporting something.
It happens that Yolanda Sue walks out of the office with some documents and tries to keep up with
Yusef. As seeing Macy, Yolanda stares stonily at her, "I need to attend a morning meeting with Mr.
Penn now. Don't idle away your time please. Go to confirm Mr. Penn’s afternoon schedule!"
"No problem." Macy responds, and takes a deep look at Yusef before turning back to the office.
She makes up her mind last night, which is that she doesn't want to be a deserter, and she would like
to use her own strength to improve little by little. Macy wants to tell Yusef of this decision in person.
Macy goes to confirm Yusef's itinerary, but the person who is going to meet in the afternoon needs to
deal with some urgent matters suddenly, so his assistant proposes to change the meeting time. She
notes it down, at the same time arranges a schedule that could be carried out for the time left in the
afternoon, plans to report to Yusef after the early meeting and let him decide.
Almost one hour later, the early meeting is over. Macy hears something from the next door and
immediately goes to that office. After knocking on the door, she finds that there are Yusef and another
strange man.
This man is about forty years old: fine shades of grey streaking his dark hair, the silver-gray mercerized
shirt covered with an exquisite suit, being well-dressed but having stern eyes, revealing a dignified
appearance.
Noticing that Macy come in, the man’s gaze pauses on her, then turns to Yusef, "New secretary?"
"Yup." Yusef replies blandly, and then looks towards Macy, "Two cups of coffee please, one without
sugar."
"Sure, just a second."
Macy replies softly, while a smile spreads over her face. She slowly leaves the room.
When she brings two cups of coffee into the room, Yusef and the man are still discussing.
"Mr. Rayburn, you really worked hard this time. Although the technical consultation abroad takes a little
longer, it turns out well. ."
"This is not my personal credit. By the way, I am sorry to hear that the South Sea project is not
negotiated last time. You’ve already taken this project from our vice president, right?"
"Well, I will take a trip to examine this project personally." Yusef says, inadvertently finding the girl hand
Rayburn a cup of coffee, and her legs are exposed to his eyes, white and straight.
Taking a deep breath, he moves his eyes away secretly, and then looks at Rayburn, "I am going to
South Sea City this weekend and stay for a few days. Well, since you just returned from abroad, I think
recently you can have some time off. With Eliot, everything can process as usual."
This weekend?
As Macy walks in, she hears them talking about the South Sea project and unconsciously concentrates
on what they discuss. Now realizing that Yusef will go to South Sea City this weekend, she couldn't
help being shocked.
Macy walks towards Yusef with the coffee. Unexpectedly, she doesn’t notice the carpet under the table,
falling down on the floor.
In a panic, she cannot control the coffee in her hand which is going to pour towards Yusef. Macy
shakes her hand to the side right away, and the hot coffee splashes directly on her right arm. The cup
slips and falls. It is not broken, but make the whole carpet get wet.
Yusef supports her shoulders when she loses her balance, so that she doesn’t fall directly with the
whole body. However, now she kneels in front of Yusef in a really strange posture...
The atmosphere suddenly becomes embarrassing.
Ignoring the discomfort from her arms, she picks up the cup on the carpet, "Oh my gosh..."
Macy stands up immediately, barely daring to look at the man's face, "I'm so sorry, Mr. Penn, I'll get you Content protected by Nôv/el(D)rama.Org.
another cup..."
Yusef doesn’t replies, so she turns around with the cup and walks towards the door.
The moment she leaves the office and closed the door, she vaguely hears something from inside.
"Your secretary..."
Before Rayburn finishes his question, Yusef says directly, "She is just a novice. Excusable."
Macy bits her lip, quickly goes to the tearoom, grinds a cup of coffee, washes her scalded arm under
the faucet, and then heads to the office.
After pushing the door, she finds that strange man is no longer here, and only Yusef leans on the sofa.
Macy walks steadily and puts the coffee on the table in front of Yusef.
"Mr. Penn, about what happened just now..."
"Come here."
Macy looks at him, pausing for half a second, and then walks around the coffee table towards Yusef.
She intends to apologize again, while Yusef has already reached out and let her sit next to him. Before
she reacts, the man is like a magician, getting a slender tube of ointment in his hand.
He directly pushes up her sleeves, the redness on her arm revealed.
Macy freezes. She doesn't expect that he finds she is scalded...
Yusef doesn’t say anything but takes out the cotton swab from the drawer of the table, squeezes out
the ointment, and gently wipes her wound.
As soon as the ointment touches the skin, it immediately cools down. Macy takes a glance at Yusef,
who looks serious now, a multitude of feelings surging up.
She doesn't know that Yusef is so considerate.
