Chapter 48 The Pill
Chapter 48 The Pill
Lilian was startled. She choked on the last sip of water and started to cough violently. Her face turned rosy.
Sebastian walked over and patted on her back, asking, "What's the rush?"
Lilian glanced at him impatiently. When she caught up with her breath, she asked, "Why are you here?"
"I'm here to pick you up," Sebastian answered as if it was natural.
Seeing that she being so confused, he added, "I'll pick you up and we'll have dinner at home."
Lilian then realized that they were going back to the old house. Sebastian had never picked her up in the radio station before. She wondered what he was here for today.
"Are you sick? What did you take just now?" Sebastian squinted his eyes and looked at her.
"I... I'm fine. Let's go back home. I don't want Mom and Dad to wait for us," Lilian chuckled and somehow felt nervous. She wondered since when Sebastian cared about her so much?
"I'll ask the pharmacy if you don't tell me," he said as he walked to the salesperson, trying to ask him what Lilian had bought.
Lilian stopped him and said, "It's for dysmenorrhea. You would be ashamed to ask."
Sebastian raised his eyebrows. "You're my wife, why would I be ashamed?" He then stopped walking to the pharmacy because he thought this was her confession.
Lilian found those words sounded so weird when coming out of his mouth. She gave up talking to him, letting him drag her to his car.
On the side of the road, Archibald was sitting in the car. He saw Lilian was pushed into the car by Sebastian, and then the Maserati drove into the main road.
He lowered down the car window and supported his elbow there. His one hand was squeezed into a fist near his lips and the other hand's slender fingers were clapping on the steering wheel. His long and charming eyes suddenly focused. He started his car as soon as the Maserati disappeared from his sight. The domineering Spyker C8 galloped away with great momentum.
During the dinner, Eleanor acted out of her usual behavior. She didn't find fault about her. She treated Lilian coldly, maybe because she had finally lost hope in this good-for-nothing daughter-in-law.
After dinner, Lilian and Douglas watched TV in the living room.
Eleanor boiled Chinese medicine for Douglas, and Sebastian was in the study doing his own things.
"Lilian, I heard about the banquet last time. Joanna was such a shameless woman. Sebastian had already given her enough resources to make her popular. How dare she try to get into our family! That woman is too calculating. We would never accept her!" Douglas looked so disgusted when he mentioned that name.
"Lilian, I know it has been hard for you since you married Sevastian. Your mother-in-law sounds mean, but she is not an evil woman. Sebastian still needs time to find your good. You should be more patient with him. Marriage always starts hard at the beginning. You'll together be through ups and downs, and then you'll find he is the only one that was always there for you," Douglas said and looked very sentimental.
Lilian listened to him quietly. Douglas still didn't know what was between Sebastian and Joanna, or he would never be so calm. He would've been furious and taught Sebastian a lesson if he had known that.
Lilian didn't want to tell him about that. Now that she and Sebastian had made a deal to live separate lives in the future, they would never get into each other's life. She didn't feel any needs to tell Douglas about it.
"I see, thank you," she answered politely. Then she lowered her eyelids. She had given enough patience for Sebastian. No other woman would let her husband hug his mistress in front of her.
Lilian must be the only woman in the world.
It was because she didn't mind, or she was too weak to argue, it was because she had given up hope in herself. She knew she would spend the rest of her life alone unless there was a miracle.
She returned to the sofa in the bedroom after a shower. She had a phone call with Zoe and then decided to sleep. Suddenly, Archibald's name in her contacts caught her eyes. He input his number in her phone by himself. He typed his name, Archi.
When she first saw it, she just sneered disdainfully, thinking that the arrogant man was trying to cotton up. Now her mind had completely changed. "Archi" sounded too intimate for her, she wanted to change it, but she wasn't sure what would be better.
It was really abnormal that she was actually trying hard to figure out a small issue like this. She couldn't help thinking what her nickname would be on his phone.
She had already fallen asleep when Sebastian came in. He picked up her phone and frowned slightly. He picked up her phone and saw the name "Archi".
Sebastian frowned deeper when he saw the intimate address. He gripped the phone firmly and looked at the sleeping woman with cold eyes.
Lilian told him that there was nothing between her and Archibald, but she was calling him "Archi" now.
In the bustling and crowded chamber of a bar, everybody was having so much fun that no one noticed Kieran when he came in.
Kieran walked to Archibald who was sitting next to a girl. She was in her early twenties and looked bright and beautiful. She didn't wear any make-up and was even a bit shy. Everyone could tell that she didn't belong here.
The other party she would negotiate with today, Mr. Li is from S City and he had quite a rich and powerful background. He brought his daughter here this time because he wanted her to see the manner of the century-old scholarly family in Millpond.
The girl sitting next to Archibald was his daughter, Li Shan. Her father wanted to push his daughter into that old rich family.
Kieran leaned forward and whispered to Archibald. Everybody was looking at them.
As soon as Kieran finished, Archibald stood up and apologized to Mr. Li, "I'm sorry, I'm afraid I have to go now. We should discuss it tomorrow in my company. Tonight is just a reception for you. It's all on me."
Upon hearing him leaving, Mr. Li frowned and said, "You said you would hold a grand welcoming party for me when I came to Millpond. Why are you leave halfway through?" He said as he glanced at his daughter. He didn't want Archibald to go because his daughter hadn't talked to him yet.
Kieran the man wouldn't let Archibald go easily, so he said, "Mr. Li, Mrs. Howkins isn't feeling very well now. She needs to see Mr. Howkins right now."
"Mrs. Hawkins?" Mr. Li was stunned as soon as he heard that. He thought Archibald was single. So he asked, "When did Mr. Hawkins get married?"
Archibald had a proud smile on his face. Then he said, "I'm not married. She's just my girl friend. Kieran was joking," he then added, "I really need to go now."
After he was out of the chamber, Mr. Li could help ask other people next to him, "Who's his girlfriend?"

"But there were also rumors saying that Lilian was the third party between Sebastian Palmer and Joanna. Why would Archibald love a woman like that?"
"Who knows? The woman was like a siren. She had charmed the two best men in this town."
They gossiped and laughed in the charmer, meanwhile Mr. Li's frowned eyebrows stretched when he heard those words. The young man still weren't married, which meant that his daughter still stood a chance. He put his arms around his daughter and patted her shoulder, whisoering, "Don't be so upset, honey. You still have the chance."
