The Alpha’s Fated Outcast: Rise Of The Moonsinger

Chapter 361: The price of love II

Chapter 361: The price of love II

Ramsey

"Your mate will lead the pack in your absence, and when your sons are grown, they can lead. However, for the first time, one person would rule as the Lycan leader and the other would rule as Alpha of the White Moon pack."

Circe’s voice was practical, but I could see the sadness in her eyes.

The pack will survive, Ramsey. You’re giving them their Luna and the next generation of leaders."

"And my grandfather... will he survive the outcome?"

"He will," Circe nodded. "This is not the first time he’s losing a loved one, and his grandchildren would be there to keep him company. But you don’t need to worry about that. For now, focus on the next twenty-four hours. Spend time with your mate. Create memories that will sustain her in the years to come."

I stood up, feeling older than my years. "Thank you, Circe. For finding another way."

"Don’t thank me yet," she warned. "This path is harder than the original prophecy in many ways. You’re choosing to save someone you love by damning yourself. That’s not heroism, Ramsey – that’s love in its purest, most devastating form."

I left Circe’s room with my fate sealed. As I walked back toward our room, I tried to memorise every detail – the way the morning light fell through the windows, the familiar scents of home, the sounds of my pack waking up for another day.

When I reached our door, I paused with my hand on the handle. Inside was everything I was about to lose – my wife, my unborn children, my future. But also, everything I was determined to save.

I opened the door to find Lyla awake, sitting up in bed with the sheets pooled around her waist. She smiled when she saw me, that radiant expression that had captivated me from the first moment we met.

"Where did you go?" she asked, stretching like a contented cat.

"Just checking on some pack business," I lied smoothly, crossing to sit beside her on the bed. "How are you feeling?"

"Perfect," she said, leaning into my embrace. "Though I could get used to waking up next to you every morning."

The irony of her words was like a knife to my heart. "So could I," I murmured, pressing my lips to the top of her head.

"Ramsey?" she called softly to me. "Is everything alright? You seem... distant."

I pulled back to look at her, memorising the concern in her beautiful eyes, the way her hair fell in waves around her shoulders, the gentle glow that pregnancy had given her skin.

"Everything’s fine," I assured her, hating myself for the lie. "I’m just thinking about the twin moons tomorrow night. Making sure we’re prepared for whatever comes."

She nodded, accepting my explanation. "Are you worried about the prophecy?"

"I’m worried about you," I said truthfully. "About keeping you safe."

"We’ll face it together," she said with complete confidence. "Whatever happens, we’re stronger together than apart."

If only she knew how wrong she was. It was exactly what I was about to sacrifice: our strength together.

"Together," I agreed, sealing the lie with a kiss.

As I held her in my arms, I began the countdown in my mind. Twenty-four more hours. Twenty-four hours to love her completely, to store up enough memories to last an eternity of darkness.

Twenty-four hours before I would betray everything she thought she knew about our future, in order to give her a future at all.

The price of love, I realised, was sometimes love itself.

And I was willing to pay it.

"So, what will I be doing today? It’s almost midday. I need to get started on a lot of things, right?"

"Yes," I nodded. "First, you would need to sign the papers officially declaring you as the Luna of White Moon Pack and the Lycan Leader, too."

"We get the same title for that position?"

I nodded. "But most people would call you Queen instead of Luna whenever we’re acting out in the capacity. There will be many changes and handovers soon. I spoke to Caius a moment ago, and everything is ready. But if you don’t feel up to it, we might bring it up here..."

"No!" She shook her head, rubbing her stomach delicately. "Though I could really use a snack now. I’m starving. Give me thirty minutes to change into something presentable, and I’ll join you. Where are we meeting?’

"The White Mountain Region Council Hall," I said quietly. "Do you remember the first time you went there?" noveldrama

"Like yesterday. Mother Liora introduced me to all those judgmental elders as the Moonsinger. It seems like a lifetime ago," she chuckled. "And now, I’m returning there as your Luna."

I nodded, rising from the bed. "Well, I’d best leave you to dress up, I don’t want to be caught up in another..." My eyes travelled to her exposed robe, which was showing her breast.

She immediately covered her robe, eyeing me with amusement. I winked at her one last time before walking out of the room.

That morning, before Lyla woke up, I spent it in my office, going through every financial document, every legal agreement, and every piece of paperwork that would help Lyla manage the pack after I was gone.

The numbers blurred together on the pages—bank accounts, investment portfolios, territory contracts, alliance agreements. Everything that would ensure our people’s survival and prosperity.

When I finished, I sealed everything in a folder marked with her name and left it prominently on the desk where she’d find it. Along with it, I left a letter explaining the most crucial decisions she’d need to make in the coming months.

When I reached the front of the pack house, Caius was waiting for me.

"Are they ready for us?" I asked as I approached.

Caius nodded. "Everything’s prepared at the Council Hall."

I needed her to be an official signatory on everything I owned and everything related to our pack. Instead of meeting with elders, as she thinks she would, it would be everyone who manages the pack in their respective capacities.

In other words, I was handing over everything to Lyla, making her regent to my sons and Queen after me.
