The Billionaire’s Secret Quartet

Chapter 2110

Ethan, determined to prove he wasn't a pushover, went out of his way to explain to Lydia, "Look at me, I just got roughed up by those guys, and did you see me chasing after them? No way. It's because I'm drawn to you that I want to see you all the time."

Before he knew it, he had spilled his guts.

Lydia looked up, meeting Ethan's handsome and bright eyes. He was dead serious as he spoke, even his gaze was intense, clearly showing how much he was trying to convey his feelings.

His earnestness made Lydia's usually calm heart start to race.

Even her blood seemed to warm up.

In that moment, as their eyes locked, the gentle murmur of the nearby creek and the soft whisper of the wind seemed to envelop them.

The warm glow of the lights cast a cozy light on their faces, adding an intimate touch to the atmosphere, with the scent of roses lingering in the air. Everything about that moment was heart-fluttering.

Even the air was filled with a sense of romance.

Just as the tension peaked, a waiter's voice suddenly broke the spell, "Sir, miss, your dinner is served."

With that, he placed two plates on the table, shattering the intimate atmosphere.

Lydia snapped back to reality, glanced at the waiter to mask her embarrassment, and managed a smile, "Thank you."

"You're welcome. Enjoy your meal," the waiter responded, but didn't leave right away, instead looking expectantly at Ethan.

She had rushed the kitchen to serve their meal promptly, hoping to impress Ethan. This belongs © NôvelDra/ma.Org.

Awaiting his praise, she caught Ethan's gaze, only to find a stern look on his face.

His intimidating expression took her aback, and she quickly looked away and left with her tray, puzzled by her misinterpretation of his reaction.

Ethan's mood had visibly darkened. He had been so close to making a move on Lydia, possibly even a kiss that could have sealed the deal.

But the waiter had unwittingly ruined the perfect moment.

How could Ethan not be irritated?

leaving him frustrated yet unable to vent.

"Let's eat before the food gets cold," Lydia suggested, picking up her fork and knife.

Snapping out of his irritation, Ethan coughed into his fist, "I'm not that hungry yet, but you go ahead."

"Just a moment ago, you were all about eating healthy and having me keep an eye on you. What happened to listening to the doctor's advice?" Lydia said with a hint of annoyance.

Quick to make amends, Ethan picked up his utensil like a chastised child, "Alright, I'll listen to the doctor."

As he took a bite, he managed a smile towards Lydia.

Seeing him trying to appease her, Lydia was somewhat puzzled, "Do you do this when you're dining with clients too?"

"Do what?" Ethan was clueless.

"Smiling while eating," Lydia gestured to her mouth, indicating his overly apparent grin.

Ethan immediately dropped the smile, adopting a serious demeanor, "Of course not. Usually, they're the ones trying to make me smile."

It was a rare occasion for him to try and win someone over; typically, it was the other way around with clients and partners.
