Chapter 1718
The way Miles knew his fiancée was uncanny-sometimes Felicity swore he had her bugged.
"Still insisting you're not nauseous?" His voice was more serious now. "Send me your location. I'll come pick you up."
Truth was, Felicity wasn't actually throwing up. She just felt off.
"Don't go out of your way," she protested. "Once Abby's done, we'll head home together!"
"Are you sending me your location, or should I ask Abigail myself?"
She hesitated. "Aren't you busy? Didn't you say you had a ton of work today?"
Miles gave a long sigh. "Work's never-ending, Felicity. But you come first." Right now, nothing mattered more to him than her.
He'd already messed up before, not realizing what was really important. There was no way he'd make the same mistake twice.
"I'm really fine. No need to-"
"Then I'll call Abby."
"Oh, come on! Fine, I'll send it," Felicity caved, knowing if Langston asked, Abigail would spill everything—and that'd just slow her down.
After hanging up, Felicity dropped a pin on WhatsApp and sent it to Miles.
She added: [You really don't need to come! Once Abby's finished, she'll drive me back. You already took me to the doctor, and they said it was nothing!]
The reply came back almost instantly.noveldrama
[I can't settle down when you're not with me. Let me pick you up-I want to be there if you feel worse.]
Reading that, Felicity couldn't help but smile, even if she still felt a bit guilty for making him come out Who wouldn't be happy having someone care about them like that? Guys like him were rare finds.
Miles got up from his corner office, grabbing his keys. His assistant hurried after
him. “Mr. Lopez, are you heading to the conference room?"
"No, I have to step out. Hold all meetings until I get back," he said, not slowing his pace.
His assistant nodded, used to Miles'
workaholic style. If Mr. Lopez suddenly postponed meetings, it could only mean one of two things: either Something even more important had come up, or... something was up with the future
nove
Mrs. Lopez.
Otherwise, someone like him would never leave the office before quitting time.
Miles drove himself across town to Felicity's focation, taking a business call with the London branch as he navigated traffic. The moment he hung up, his mom's name flashed on the screen.
"Langston, do you and Felicity have time for dinner tonight? Your dad's actually making his famous roast chicken-it's been ages! Didn't Felicity say it's her favorite?"
Miles checked the time. “Let me see how she's feeling. She's not feeling great today—I'm on my way to pick her up now, back to Eldorria City."
"What happened? Is she alright?" Dorothy Lopez sounded worried.
"I'm not sure. I took her to the doctor and they said it's nothing serious, but I just can't relax until she's home."
"Well, bring her back as soon as you can. Let me know if you two can make it for dinner. But don't force her if she's not up for it-her health comes first."
Miles nodded, though she couldn't see him. "Okay."
"What's going on with her, exactly?"
"She's just been nauseous all day."
What do you think?
