The Cherished Wife

Chapter 639

"Why are you exaggerating, Aunt Clarisse? She's just a secretary!" J had never seen Becky as a threat. In her view, Becky was just an employee who worked for whoever paid her more.

Clearly, J's thinking was shortsighted. She overestimated her own importance while underestimating Becky.

After leaving the lounge, Becky returned directly to the banquet hall. Instead of immediately seeking out Ronald or Charles, she asked someone to bring her ice to reduce the swelling on her face.

Once the numbness subsided and the pain lessened, Becky finally went to look for Ronald.

Although Becky had already tried to address the situation, Ronald still noticed the faint marks on her face. "Go and touch up your makeup later."

"Alright." Becky touched her face. "What part of the evening are we at now?" She glanced at the stage and saw that Collosus employees were performing.

Flipping through the program, she remarked, "The next act is... Winter's?" She looked further down the list. "Mr. Wells, honestly, Winter doesn't seem very talented. Look at all the other Royal Star artistes. They all have impressive skills. But Winter is just going to sing. How underwhelming is that?" Becky was somewhat shocked, considering that singing could be both a simple and a challenging performance choice.

Lara performed a dance, while Brielle, who was Royal Star's leading artiste, opted for something more sophisticated-playing the violin.

Brielle was placed second-to-last on the program, so by now, she was already in costume. She sat quietly, looking like she had stepped out of a beautiful painting.

In contrast, Winter had just prepared a casual song without much innovation or creativity. Knowing Winter's background, Becky could not fathom why she even bothered showing up.

"We'll see," Ronald said calmly. "How are the preparations for the upcoming raffle?"

"Everything's sorted. Mr. Wells, you know you can trust my work." Becky closed the program list and handed it to her assistant behind her. "I'll go freshen up my makeup now."

While Collosus employees continued

"You're still considered a newcomer at Royal Star, so it's best not to clash with Brielle," Jane advised while nudging Suzy to agree.

Suzy nodded eagerly, adding,

"You make some valid points, but you know I'm just an average singer!" Winter frowned. She loved acting, but singing was not her strength.

As a child, Winter had attended various interest classes and even learned piano, accordion, and violin. However, she had no real passion for music and was practically tone-deaf.

Even after entering the entertainment industry, when her agent suggested she release an album, she refused and chose to focus solely on acting.
