Chapter 1565
Dane, that old fox, always loved showing off his protégé whenever he got the chance. Now that Dr. Elliot had finally snagged a standout student, the last thing he wanted was for them to get poached by Dane's crew. That would really sting!
Sure, Dane's protégé was impressive, but Dr. Elliot couldn't shake his irritation. He fired off a few more texts to Mirabella, clearly agitated.
Mirabella raised an eyebrow, sensing her professor's strong aversion to James.
"You're giving me a weird look," James said, glancing over at Mirabella, who was sizing him up.
Mirabella had already stashed her phone, leaning casually against the doorframe, propping her chin on her hand with an easygoing demeanor. She let out a soft sigh, "Good-looking people always seem to grab more attention."
"That doesn't exactly sound like a compliment," James quipped, lifting an
eyebrow.
"Why wouldn't it be? I'm being totally sincere!" Mirabella defended herself without missing a beat.
James just chuckled, deciding not to call her out on it.

The next day at the university, Calvin had spent a sleepless night worrying about the DO Group mess. Relieved Hank hadn't rung him again, he was instead summoned by Mr. Belcher.
When he walked into the office, Mr. Belcher's expression was anything but friendly.
Calvin felt a knot in his stomach, "Mr. Belcher, you wanted to see me?"
Mr. Belcher grabbed a pen from his desk and chucked it at Calvin, almost giving himself a heart attack after Hank's call last night, "You've got some nerve messing with the Tech Center like that!"
As soon as he heard the mention of the Tech Center, Calvin realized why Mr. Belcher looked so upset. He bent down to retrieve the pen from the floor.
After a moment, he explained, "I'm really sorry, I didn't expect the head of the DO Group to be acquainted with Zane's student, which led to this whole misunderstanding."
Calvin had spent the night
wondering how it was possible that Zane's student knew the head of the DO Group. At the Tech Center, they acted like strangers, but back at the university, they were suddenly best buds. It seemed too fishy not to be a setup.
Calvin suspected Zane had orchestrated the whole thing, making Mirabella put on
a show at the Tech Center, leading to Hank's misunderstanding and now Mr.
Belcher's lecture.noveldrama
Such intricate scheming.
With this in mind, Calvin laid out his suspicions.
He wasn't going to take the fall for this one.
Mr. Belcher listened and then let out a dry laugh, "So you think you got set up too? Then explain why the DO Group initially contacted our
department's professor but
vel.r
switched to dealing with the Tech Center halfway through?"
Calvin's face tightened.
"Cat got your tongue?" Mr. Belcher knew Calvin's type all too well, and it wasn't hard to guess his motives.
He figured Calvin's real aim was to butter up Hank while undermining the
department's professors out of envy.
In the end, his scheming backfired on him.
Mr. Belcher shook his head, tired of Calvin's excuses, saying simply, "Alright, off
you go. When you get back, hand over your work. The maintenance department would be more fitting for you."
Calvin's face went ashen at those words.
The maintenance department was where folks got sent to do the grunt work around campus. After all these years of being a department head and making life difficult for students and professors, if he was demoted to the maintenance department, he'd not only become the butt of everyone's jokes but would also face an incredibly tough road ahead.
