Chapter 27: 27

Chapter 27: 27

We were forced to go back to our hotel because the management called the captain to inform us about

some situation. The captain could only tell us that there was an emergency. Elliot and I walk quickly to

the front desk.

“Hi! I’m Elliot Smith and I was called by management because of an emergency” Elliot says without

breathing.

“Yes, sir, uhm we have two situations at hand. One, there was an unsuccessful robbery at your villa.”

My and Elliot’s eyes widened, “What do you mean? An Unsuccessful robbery?” I asked the manager.

The manager sighs and looks at his colleagues for a moment before giving us an answer, “Well, the

management believes that this incident is a first. Someone dressed as one of our staff came by your

villa at around nine o’clock, a couple of minutes after you and your wife left for the yacht trip.” The

manger says to start, “He used tools to get in and was able to roam around the villa for a solid ten

minutes before watch dogs passed by and alerted their respective officers. The robber was able to get

away and for some reason, we were unable to get other angles from the cameras. But we’re working

on it.”

Elliot and I were silent for a moment. It’s great that he got nothing but that’s another thing that scared

us more is the fact that he roamed around the room. Which means he isn’t there to steal or not to steal

yet.

“There’s something wrong” Elliot says, “he didn’t use the ten minutes to rob us. He used the ten

minutes to get to know us, the patterns, the habits, where our things are. Maybe he even bugged the

villa to begin with” Elliot says.

The manager looks composed but shaking from where I was standing. “We will be moving you to

another villa and ask the staff to evacuate the villa. If you may allow us to gather your things and move

them to the new villa, that would be great, Mr. Smith.” The manager prompts security and the staff to

head to our villa to gather our things.

“Yes, please” Elliot says, “Move us to a smaller suit and I will be renting the doors beside and in front

our ours to make sure that no one takes it” Elliot says.

“Elliot, maybe we could juts stay in a small room in the hotel. It would be a waste of money to rent three

or four other villas for the next couple of days” I tell him. My brain automatically did the math with the

number of doors and the number of nights from the basic rent.

“What” Elliot looks at me. I see fear and worry from his eyes but also, I feel as if he knows something,

or someone who might have done this. Text property © Nôvel(D)ra/ma.Org.

“Let’s just get another room, smaller, a room inside the hotel and not a separate villa. There’s security

anyway, much safer” I tell him.

Elliot then looks over the manager and says, “Well, you heard my wife. Get us a room here, the largest

room in the hotel. I will be asking two security men from your agency to guard our doors when we’re

not there. I will be asking your management to call the police so that I can file a complaint. I need to

see the security men monitoring all cameras at our area.” Elliot tells the manager, says every task

rapidly.

My head was starting to feel light, people around were just talking and then later, raising their voices.

Elliot is frustrated, demanding so much from the management, asking them to do this and that, that the

staff could not keep us. He asked for security men to be outside of our room. I started to breathe

rapidly, my eyes losing sight until everything goes black.
