Chapter 2678
After all, Lassie was famous in the neighborhood for being quite good in a fight. The fact that Frank could easily punch him down meant Frank was no ordinary man and was trustable on top of that!
Even as he struggled to his feet, Lassie snarled, "You brat... You hit me! Just you wait—I'll make you suffer!"
And with that, he fled the scene right then.
Frank simply ignored him and walked up to Jeeves. "He's trying to stop us, most definitely because he wants to go looking for that coffin too, so we'd best be cautious."
Jeeves frowned. "Really? But we've known him since he was a kid... He's not that bad!"
Frank chuckled. "Not everyone can be as upstanding as you are, sir. People like him believe that wealth could be more important than their lives."
Jeeves kept shaking his head regardless, and Frank decided against explaining himself further for his part.
They were all going to Huxlem tonight anyway, and they would believe him when the truth was revealed right before their eyes.
After that, Frank went to Jada and gave her a quick rundown of the riddle incident, leaving her unsure if she should laugh or cry. "How low do they think of me? If I'm interested in their treasure, I wouldn't even bother buying their land—I'd bring a tunneling machine right now."
Frank chuckled. "People are like that. It's understandable that they're wary- anyway, you can head back now. Leave this matter to me."
Jada nodded, smiling.
That was when three vans came bounding down the road, screeching to a halt right in front of Frank and Jada.
As the sliding doors opened, Lassie and around twenty burly men alighted, with Lassie smirking at Frank. "And here I wondered why you'd screw me over. So you're in league with that bitch! Well, this suits me just fine—I don't have to come after you one after the other.
"Go on, go down on your knees and beg, or you might end up dead in a ditch!"
Frank and Jada shared a pained smile-why could these people not come up with anything original? They were always using numbers, as if it was an advantage.
Jada then sneered as she strode up in front of Frank. "You're the one who should
be begging. Leave right now, and I just might pull my punches."
After all, small fry like these were really beneath Frank-even she could deal with them easily.
"Fuck off, bitch! I'll have all the time to spend with you later!" Lassie snapped at her right then. "Right now have beef with that brat! Don't hide behind a girl if you have balls, Kid!"
Frank shrugged. "You're right. Allow me!"
With just a thought, all the burly men behind Lassie collapsed on the ground,
unable to get up, each of them unconscious as if drugged!
Lassie blanched. "W-What did you do?! How?!"
"Just like that." Frank snapped his fingers. "Can't you do the same?"
Panicking, Lassie wanted to run but soon realized Frank could do the same to him.
Still, seeing that Jada was very close, an idea struck him.
Whipping out a dagger, he leapt toward Jada, presuming that she would getnoveldrama
scared, and he could quickly take her hostage to get to safety.
What he did not expect was that Jada was not afraid at all, even kicking the knife out of his hands before punching him in the face, sending him flying thirty feet away!
As Lassie crashed heavily on the ground, he felt himself dying inside.
How was this possible? How could people like them exist?!
What do you think?
