Chapter 49 Give Yourself Away
Chapter 49 Give Yourself Away
Sitting by Muriel's bed, Richard kept staring at her pale face, which made him feel as if a knife was
piercing his heart. He couldn't help but shed tears.
Muriel woke up and saw Richard's red eyes. She was surprised and wanted to ask Richard what
happened, but found that she was too weak to speak at all.
When Richard saw that Muriel had woken up, he hurriedly approached her and asked, "Do you feel
uncomfortable?"
Muriel's lips moved slightly and she couldn't speak, but Richard could tell from her mouth shape that
she was fine.
Seeing that Muriel couldn't make a sound, Richard's heart sank and hurriedly pressed the call light at
the bedside. When the nurses and doctors in the office saw the call light, they quickly walked over,
pushed the door open and asked, "What's wrong? 'What? Muriel woke up? '
The doctor had thought that Muriel wouldn't wake up until the day after tomorrow, but he didn't expect
that she would wake up in the evening on the day of the operation. It was really surprising to him.
Richard hurriedly said to the doctor, "Muriel can't make a sound. Doctor, please have a look."
The doctor and nurse immediately checked up Muriel, and all her physical conditions were normal.
"She just woke up and is too weak to speak. She will be fine in a few days."
"Thank you."
"You're welcome." The doctor put away the record board and saw that Richard had been keeping an
eye on Muriel. Even though he knew that she was unlikely to get pregnant in the future, he still didn't
give up on her. The doctor knew that Richard was infatuated with her, so he couldn't help but sigh.
"What's wrong?" The nurse who was walking beside felt the doctor was a little strange.
The doctor shook his head and said, "Nothing."
Silence returned to the ward again. It was the first time that Muriel had seen such an expression on
Richard's face. Richard, who had always been confident that he would protect her for the rest of his life,
had such a fragile moment because of her.
Muriel frowned and moved her lips apologetically, "I'm sorry."
Richard could see the shape of Muriel's mouth. He reached out his hand and gently smoothed Muriel's
hair hanging by her cheek. "You know you're sorry. Be careful next time, okay? Don't make me worry
about you anymore."
Muriel opened and closed her thin lips, "I will. Aren't you going back to work?"
"I'll leave soon. Don't say anything more. Have a good rest. I'll be here with you."
Muriel winked at Richard with a smile and fell asleep.
In the middle of the night, there was a dead silence in the hospital. Occasionally, a strong wind blew the
leaves and made some noise.
Max was wearing a loose and big hoodie, and the hood was pulled up and covered on his head. He
was wearing a lot of coat inside and a pair of high-heeled shoes. If the staff of the crew looked at him
from behind, they could hardly recognize him.
In the quiet hospital building, only his footsteps could be heard. He nervously grabbed the syringe
hidden at the sleeve of his clothes. He always felt that someone was following him, but when he
suddenly looked back, there was no one.
This made him even more scared. He quickened his pace towards Muriel's ward.
In the morning, when the reporters were intercepted by the security guards in the hospital, they didn't
take a picture of Muriel's face, but took a picture of the ward number. Judging from the exposed ward
number, Max knew where Muriel's ward was.
"Just give her an injection." Max comforted himself.
Max lowered his head and pulled the hood over his head worriedly. In this way, it would be difficult for
the police to see her face if they checked the surveillance video.
Seeing the ward number getting closer and closer, Max became more and more nervous.
1258! Then he turned the corner and saw the room 1259! Max turned a corner with his heart beating
fast, and his hands and feet suddenly became cold.
He saw two men in black standing at the door of Muriel's ward. He was frightened and took a step
back.
When the man in black saw him, he asked in confusion, "Who are you looking for?"
Max explained in a hurry, "Well, I have lost my way." Before the man in black could answer, he
immediately turned around and left, with sweat all over his hands and feet.
The man in black stared at the back of Max suspiciously. No one would wear so many clothes in such a
hot day. Besides, he was pulling up the hood all over his head. Wasn't he afraid of being suffocated to
death?
"Wait a minute." The man in black stepped forward and said.
Hearing the man's voice, Max immediately ran away. Seeing this, the man in black immediately said to
his companion, "I'll go after him. You stay here and don't leave."
"Okay."
These bodyguards were all good at it. He ran to catch up with Max and immediately threw him down.
The injection syringe rolled out of Max's hand and fell on the floor.
The sound of chasing and shouting immediately awakened all the patients on the whole floor. Muriel
opened her eyes and saw that Richard was still sitting next to her. She tried to make a sound and
asked in a hoarse voice, "What's wrong outside?" Ccontent © exclusive by Nô/vel(D)ra/ma.Org.
Staring coldly at the door of the ward, Richard touched Muriel's hair and said softly, "There's a mouse
coming in. Nothing serious. You can continue to sleep."
"Okay." With the presence of Richard, Muriel closed her eyes and fell asleep again.
The men in black had already subdued Max. Max struggled and scolded, "Why do you catch me? Let
go of me! Are you insane? "
Victor came over and asked, "What happened?"
"Mr. Victor, this man sneaked to the door of the ward and ran away as soon as he saw us. I felt
something wrong and followed him." The man in black reported to Victor.
Seeing the syringe on the ground, Victor picked it up and asked in confusion, "What's this?"
Max wished he could bump into the floor and die. He kept shouting in his heart, "It's all over!"
The man in black lifted up the Max's hoodie and saw a few more clothes inside. Seeing this, Victor
immediately ordered, "Call the police."
"Yes, sir!"
Hearing this, Max struggled nervously. "Why do you arrest me? I don't know you. Let go of me quickly."
"What's this?" Victor put the syringe in front of Max and asked.
Max shook his head crazily and said, "That's not mine. I don't know whose it is. I don't know what it is!"
Hearing the noise, doctors and nurses ran over to ask what had happened. Victor gave a general
explanation. If Max continued to scream here, it would make the patients in the hospital unable to rest.
Looking at the flustered Max, Victor immediately followed the bodyguard to the police station.
Hearing the noise outside gradually went away, Richard pulled up the quilt and covered Muriel's chest.
Then he walked out slowly and closed the door. He looked at another bodyguard and asked in a low
voice, "What happened just now?"
