The Heiress Nobody Saw Coming (Natalie and Marcus)

Chapter 534 Wrong, All Wrong

"Grandpa Charles, are you alright?" Natalie immediately sensed something was wrong and stepped forward to pat his back, telling him to relax.

Hector quickly stepped close to check Charles' pulse as well. "Sheldon, the medicine."

Sheldon quickly took out the medicine Natalie had provided earlier, poured out a pill, and handed it to Hector.

"Water."

Sheldon turned to fetch a cup of water.

Hector couldn't help but frown. He wondered what was wrong with Sheldon.

The butler was usually observant. But even after noticing Charles' condition, he only reacted after being instructed at every step.

Soon, Sheldon returned with a cup of water. Marcus stepped forward and said, "Sheldon, you can leave now."

"Mr. Marcus, I—"

"I know you're in shock as well, so go take a moment to gather yourself," Marcus cut him off. After listening to the recording, not only was Charles shaken, but Sheldon was clearly affected too. His mind was sluggish, causing a delay in his reactions.

"Alright, Mr. Marcus." Sheldon turned to leave. He was moving so awkwardly that he nearly tripped on air.

Once Sheldon had left, Charles swallowed the pill, and his breathing finally steadied. His gaze shifted toward Yvette, who sat across from him. His eyes gradually turned bloodshot.

Yvette smirked mockingly as she listened to the entire recording of her conversation with Hector. After that, her expression remained indifferent.

"Yvette, why?" Charles took a deep breath as he asked, "Vivian is already dead. Why would you say such things to tarnish her name?

"You even claim that Cassie isn't my daughter. That's impossible. Your sister and I loved each other. We had a happy family.

"There was no way she would have betrayed me. Yvette, how could you slander Vivian like that? She's your sister!" Charles shouted at the end of his rant.

Yvette replied coldly, "Charles, if you think I'm slandering her, why don't you do a paternity test with Cassie?

"Why are you questioning me? Do you not believe it, or are you afraid of the results? Why would I go out of my way to frame a dead woman?

"Why would I spend all these years meticulously setting up this plan? All these years, I've been living in hiding, for what reason? Charles, don't tell me you didn't know."

Her icy, composed demeanor was a sharp contrast with Charle's agitated look, making him look inferior in the exchange.

"No, it's impossible." Suddenly, Charles grabbed Hector by the wrist. "Hector, do the test for me. Get it done as fast as possible. Sheldon, go to my study and retrieve Cassie's old tooth. Now!"

"I'll go get it!" Marcus stood up. Sheldon had already been dismissed. Even if he were there, he was in no state to handle this task.

Marcus turned and went to Charles' study. After a while, he returned with two small boxes.

"This is my father's, and this is Cassie's. Hector, sorry to trouble you."

Marcus handed the two boxes over to Hector. "Since we're doing this, do one for my father too!"

Then, he turned to Charles. "Grandpa, bear with the pain a little."

With that, Marcus plucked several strands of hair from Charles' head.

"Hector, please expedite the results," he urged.

Hector took the samples and nodded. "Okay."

Then, he left.

Charles' gaze remained locked on Yvette. "If you were alive all this while, why didn't you come back?"

Yvette chuckled coldly. "And why would I do that? So that you can kill me once more?

"Charles, I don't want to say anything to you. Once the DNA test between you and Cassie comes out, you'll realize just how much of a fool you are."

After saying that, Yvette closed her eyes and shut her mouth, resting peacefully on the couch.

"Yvette, get up! How can you sleep at a time like this? You deceived me and the Walkers for such a long time, harming so many people along the way. How could you sleep peacefully?"noveldrama

Charles got up and grabbed Yvette, but she merely cracked one eye open and gave him a cold look. "What's this? Are you going to hit me?"

Charles' chest heaved violently. "Don't sleep! Get up and explain everything to me."

"Charles, I have nothing to say to

you. Everything you need to know is

in the recording. I really shown Hector for recording it. It saved me the trouble of repeating myself."

Yvette pushed Charles away and continued, "I suggest you calm down. Once the test results are out, there's something even more infuriating waiting for you."

Then, she closed her eyes once again, completely ignoring Charles.

Charlene sat quietly beside Yvette, not daring to breathe loudly. At this point, things had escalated far beyond what she, an 18-year-old, could even comprehend.

"Grandpa Charles, calm down," Natalie said. She exchanged a glance with Marcus, who quickly pulled Charles back to his seat.

"Grandpa, calm down. No matter the results, whether my father or Aunt Cassie are truly your children or not, you'll always be my grandfather," Marcus remarked, but his words did little to comfort Charles.

Natalie nudged him. "That didn't sound right. You should work on your words."

Marcus pouted. "I was just joking."

Resisting the urge to roll her eyes, she replied, "It's not funny. Don't do it again."

"Got it."

Hearing Natalie and Marcus bickering, Charles grew even more irritated. "Nattie, how long does it take for the results to come out?" he asked.

"With the expedited process, it won't take long. Grandpa Charles, don't worry."

Charles let out a sigh. How could he not worry? If Yvette's had told him face-to- face, he wouldn't have believed it completely.

But since she had spoken to Hector, whom she had no prior interactions with, there was no reason for her to fabricate lies.

That was precisely what terrified him.

"Grandpa Charles, don't worry." Natalie tried to think of something to comfort him, but there really wasn't much she could say.

"Let's just wait for the results," she added. "That's all we can do for now." Charles' face turned grim, and his eyes reddened even more. He was afraid that the children he had cherished for so many years weren't biologically his.

As minutes crawled by, Charles got up to walk back and forth countless times, only for Marcus to pull him back to the couch each time.

Two hours later, Hector returned, holding two envelopes.

"Grandpa Charles, the results are in." His expression was solemn. "Do you want

to read them yourself, or do you want me to tell you?"

"I'll see for myself."

Charles took the envelope with Cassie's name written on it. He pulled out the report and his eyes skimmed over it.

When he saw the final result, he collapsed onto the couch.

"Grandpa Charles, are you alright?" Hector rushed forward to hold him. He had seen the results first, so he knew just how devastating it would be for Charles.

"It's wrong It's all wrong!" Charles choked on his words. Then, he broke down, sobbing uncontrollably. "It's wrong. It's wrong. Everything's wrong! Why did this happen to me? How could you do this to me?"
