The Queen Returns—And She's Unforgiving

Chapter 246

Considering that the birthday banquet was a formal event and an important social occasion, one that represented the company's image and the expansion of its network, Justine accompanied Evelyn to pick out an outfit suitable for the occasion.noveldrama

They also carefully selected a birthday gift for Nathan.

On the afternoon of the 18th, Sebastian picked Evelyn up, and they headed to the Millers' residence together.

During that time, Evelyn hadn't received a single message or reminder from Lucas. They had a tacit understanding that neither of them would ask the other about their arrangements for this banquet.

The Miller residence was designed like a garden.

With such a wide space, there were many luxury cars parked outside the moment they reached the gate. It was clear that the place was packed with guests.

Today, Evelyn wore a dark green dress. A vintage gemstone ladies' watch, adorning her wrist, came with a dial that was the same color.

Just as she and Sebastian stepped through the gates, several people turned to look their way.

They noticed Evelyn by Sebastian's side.

Brandon had arrived early. After all, he was a relative of the Millers, so he came ahead of time to help with preparations. He, too, spotted Evelyn entering with Sebastian.

His gaze lingered on her, instinctively sweeping up and down.

For a split second, a look of amazement crossed his face.

Evelyn was tall and slim, her figure elegant but not emaciated. The dress accentuated her graceful curves. Her hair was pulled into a soft, low chignon, lending her an even cooler, more refined air.

She was dressed formally, yet not ostentatiously-perfectly aligned with today's theme.

Brandon pressed his lips together. He had always known she was exceptionally beautiful, but still...

He shook his head and walked over to Sebastian. "Mr. Hill, apologies for not greeting you sooner. There's still over an hour before the event starts. You may come in and rest."

Sebastian kept things polite upon seeing Brandon. "Where's Mr. Miller?"

Evelyn stood quietly at the side. She had no intention of greeting him.

Furrowing his brows, Brandon replied, "He's probably off handling something else. There are a lot of guests today, so I hope you don't mind."

"It's fine. We'll head in then," Sebastian replied, not intending to chat any further.

He gestured for Evelyn to head in with him.

Evelyn nodded, ignoring Brandon all along.

Naturally, Brandon had noticed her behavior. He glanced at her back, his expression slightly stiff.

Then, he grew solemn. It was expected-Evelyn was nothing more than a pretty face. Did she not even have the most basic manners? It was no wonder Graham hadn't taken a liking to her back in Pearlia.

Someone came over to remind him, "Mr. Connor, an important guest just arrived over there."

Brandon snapped out of it and regained his usual composure. "Who is it?"

Evelyn followed Sebastian into the inner garden. Only then did she notice a few familiar faces. Even Jonathan from the new energy sector was among them.

Sebastian observed their surroundings and said to her, "I don't see Lucas. He hasn't contacted you?"

Evelyn shook her head. "No."

He sneered. "I guess he's troubled, too. You guys are clearly about to divorce, yet you still have to put on a show. I'm actually curious. Now that you are attending

the same event, how is he going to present himself?"

Just as Sebastian said that, Jonathan walked over.

They had barely exchanged a few friendly words when there was another commotion at the entrance.

Evelyn turned her head to look. When she saw the newcomers, her brows furrowed.

It was Lucas entering with Tiffany on his arm. Behind them were Mason and Jason exchanging pleasantries with other guests as they walked.

Tiffany was holding Lucas' arm, getting to know the guests who gathered around them.
