Chapter 846
Zane and I had always looked out for our employees, but our generosity
sometimes sparked greed-the kind that made people think they could take on more than they could actually handle. Still, our company would keep going strong even after we let those people go.
...
"Shane still hadn't ended things with Jenny, but he was already hooking up with Sasha! He even pushed Jenny to call it off so he could be with Sasha!"
The reporter spread the gossip along with pictures online. As soon as people saw the posts, they began calling Shane a jerk and tagging Sasha as the other woman, hurling insults at her.
Yvonne jumped in, too, claiming Sasha had once pushed Shane to go after her, saying they were both players who liked to mess with people's feelings. The crowd went wild when Yvonne stepped up as a witness, and they started hurling insults nonstop.
Meanwhile, the so-called cheaters were sitting quietly in a café, sipping their coffee.
Carlisle took a quick look at the documents and immediately understood why Zane had asked them to review them.
"I'm assuming one of these proposals is for me and the other's for Mr. Weston," he said.noveldrama
Douglas skimmed through it. "Exactly."
"With all this in mind, it doesn't look like the Winslows and the Westons will be
able to keep working together."
Shane didn't get it. "Why not?"
Carlisle didn't look impressed. "We've got plenty of proposals, and each one takes time and resources. So, you two will need to work on them separately."
Sasha shrugged. "That works for me."
"Once we get back, I'll walk you through everything and show you how to get things rolling," Douglas said.
"Awesome!" Sasha responded.
She'd come to appreciate the rush
of building her company from scratch and watching her profits climb. She had also started by keeping her expenses down while working at Zane's firm, then launched her own business, and now, she was hooked on the thrill of scaling it even further.
Douglas felt proud and ruffled Sasha's hair. "That's my girl."
Upon seeing this, Carlisle turned to Shane. "Shane, you're doing alright yourself."
"As for the other proposals, you can
have a few from your team take care of them. Don't you have some friends who might be interested? It could be a great chance for them to learn and step up," Douglas
suggested.
Carlisle caught on immediately. "Exactly. You guys used to hang out and had a good bond, right? You probably don't want to leave them behind as you climb the ladder."
Sasha realized he was right, so she reached out to her friends.
"I've got a few proposals I want to pass along. Do you think you can handle them?" she asked.
"Not sure yet, but we'll take a look and give them a shot."
"Sounds good."
Sage got home. Her mother, Melinda Castledine, had only suffered a minor stroke, so she was doing well and getting around just fine.
When Melinda spotted Sage, she smiled and asked, "Did you drop off those things to Annalise?"
"I did!" Sage said with a grin. "Mom, you wouldn't believe how much she's changed. The first time I saw her at the hospital, Jessica and Steve were giving her a hard time, and even Zachary wasn't standing up for her. You told me not to get involved back then."
What do you think?
