Chapter 1297
Chapter 1297
As Blake and Liam reached the upstairs corridor, a servant emerged from Blake's room, promptly
informing her, "Ms. Dion, your room's ready." "Thank you," Blake replied, a slight awkwardness in her
tone.
The servant did not mention anything about the guest room, naturally assuming Liam and Blake would Exclusive © material by Nô(/v)elDrama.Org.
share a bed. After Blake entered her room, her hands awkwardly by her side, eyeing the only bed.
"Liam, I was thinking—"
Before Blake could finish, Liam interrupted her, "It's fine, I can sleep on the floor."
Blake interjected, "No, that wasn't what I meant. You should take the bed, and I'll stay in Mya's room
tonight."
As she spoke, Blake picked up her pillow, her movements betraying a mix of resolve and hesitation.
Liam's response, barely above a whisper, revealed his hurt, "You can't bear to even be in the same
room as me?"
Blake, caught off guard by his misunderstanding, hastened to explain. "It's not that, Liam. I'm
concerned about your comfort. You've had headaches, and sleeping on the floor in the cold isn't good
for your condition."
Liam's gaze softened, his affection evident. "To me, comfort is secondary.
Being near you is what matters most." 1
Blake's grip on the pillow tightened. She was touched yet firm in her decision, and asked for patience.
"Liam, I just haven't adjusted yet. Please give me some time."
After a moment of silence, Liam replied softly, "Okay." "Thank you," Blake murmured, a mix of gratitude
and guilt coloring her voice.
Blake had entered this marriage bewildered, and even obtaining her marriage license with Liam was a
blur. She had not expected that she would be the first to break her promise to Kevin.
'Three years... but how much time has passed?' Blake pondered.
After Blake went to Mya's room next door, she found herself wide awake. She placed the pillow at the
bed's foot and stepped onto the balcony, her thoughts adrift under the night sky.
Suddenly, Blake felt lost, unsure of how to proceed. She pondered, 'Would Kevin feel disappointed if he
knew about my marriage to Liam?'
The sudden ring of her phone snapped Blake back to the present. Seeing the caller ID, Blake calmly
answered, "Cecilia, are you satisfied with how things are now?"
Cecilia, attending to a man's hand and utilizing the speakerphone, responded cryptically, "Your actions
for Kevin's sake are extreme. Sadly, he may never know."
Blake pressed for clarity. "What are you implying?"
Cecilia chuckled, "Did you see the news today? An explosion occurred in a major facility in Northern
Myanmar, and there was also a girl kidnapped in broad daylight..." "What are you trying to say? What
does any of this have to do with Kevin?" Blake inquired further.
Cecilia spoke calmly, "Those cops took an interest in that girl, the cherished daughter of a high-ranking
officer in Ventropolis. This time, they’ve stepped into a minefield. If you want someone to blame, blame
their quick actions.
"After her death, orders came from above to clear out the forces in northern Myanmar. Guess who
received that order? My sources tell me that Kevin didn't make it out in time when an explosion
occurred during a mission."
Blake was in disbelief. "That can't be true. You're lying!"
