The substitute bride is a mute

Chapter 36

Chapter 36

Upon hearing the familiar female voice, Judy immediately felt a chill down her spine. She turned around to see Jenna standing at the door in a white coat, looking at her arrogantly.

"What are you doing here?" Judy was stunned.

Lilly frowned too, subconsciously gripping Judy's hand. She held back what she was about to say.

"Oh, I'm here for an internship. I'm not like you. You're unemployed, only know how to freeload off others," Jenna mercilessly mocked Judy.

Internship? Judy looked at Jenna in astonishment.

Indeed, Jenna was dressed in a white coat from Hippocrates Hospital. Holding a patient record as she walked over to Judy and Lilly. "It just happens so that on my first day of work, I get to examine your grandma."

Judy instinctively shielded Lilly, her expression hesitant.

"Judy." Lilly patted Judy on the shoulder and looked at Jenna. Then, she said unyieldingly, "I didn't expect the youngest daughter of the Blake family to give up on her family business and choose to work at the hospital. Your future looks promising."

Jenna looked smug. "It's always better to listen to the elders. Unlike someone who is mute and lacks manners." NôvelDrama.Org holds this content.

She had arrived early today and the hospital director had personally welcomed her. Everyone in the hospital treated her politely.

Upon hearing this, Lilly sneered, "Unfortunately, medical skills are useless in the hands of someone with bad intentions. Jenna, I don't need you to examine me here. Please ask the hospital to send

someone else."

"What did you say?" Jenna's face changed. "Who are you accusing of having bad intentions?"

"The rabid dog who is barking." Lilly's temper had always been bad, developed from years of enduring while raising Judy alone. Moreover, she had witnessed what the Blake family had done over the years.

If it weren't for the sake of Judy getting a good education, she wouldn't let Judy stay in the Blake mansion.

Jenna had never been treated with such disrespect before. She snapped, "Old hag, don't insult me just because I'm playing nice. You're lucky that I'm examining you. How dare you accuse me of ill intentions?

"You and your dead daughter are the ones with bad intentions! She was so proud of being a slut. It's her fault that she gave birth to a mute!"

"You!" Lilly, pale with anger, clutched her chest, unable to speak.

Judy, worried, tried to calm Lilly down, repeatedly gesturing for Jenna to stop.

"What's the matter? Did I hit a sore spot? Are you embarrassed? Judy, your mom, and your grandma are all the same!

"You guys think highly of yourself. I'm warning you, stay away from Dominic. Don't get your hopes high!"

Judy was afraid that Lilly would be provoked again, so she pushed and shoved Jenna to drive her away.

"Don't touch me! Let go! What are you doing?" Jenna pushed Judy with full force.

Judy lost her balance and fell to the ground, hitting her back on the bed frame. She was in so much pain that she could barely breathe.

"What's going on?" A male voice came from the entrance.

"Dominic." Jenna's expression shifted. She had wanted to humiliate Judy further. But, she put on a look of grievance as soon as she saw Dominic. "Dominic, she pushed me first!"

Dominic ignored her and approached Judy. He helped her up, inquiring, "Are you okay? Are you hurt?"

Tears streamed down Judy's face due to the pain. Judy shook her head and looked towards Lilly on the bed.

Dominic understood her concern. He assisted her up before going over to check on Lilly.

Using a stethoscope to examine Lilly, Dominic instructed her. "Mrs. Dean, relax. Lie down and rest. Deep, long breaths. Don't think about anything for now."

Seeing this, Jenna started to complain, "Dominic, I—"
