Chapter 922 Misunderstanding
Chapter 922 Misunderstanding
Jonah's heart stuttered in his chest upon hearing Kingsley's words.
He had finally realized that things might not be as simple as he had thought!
Perhaps Kingsley had indeed found some clues regarding his involvement in the bombing of the Nicholson Family's cemetery!
Still, he couldn't understand just how Kingsley had managed to uncover the truth!
All he could do was buy time by vaguely saying, "Nicholson, I don't know what you're up to, but come at me directly if you have a grudge against me. My son knows nothing. So, why are you targeting him?!"
"I didn't target him," Kingsley retorted calmly, "He ran into the barrel of my gun himself. Such a great gift was delivered right in front of my doorstep. Pray tell, why wouldn't I accept such a present?"
Jonah paused for a moment and suppressed his anger as he said through clenched teeth, "Mr. Nicholson, perhaps there's a misunderstanding between us. Why don't you release my son? Then, I'm sure we can slowly discuss any demands you may have. Everything can be negotiated."
"Misunderstanding?" Kingsley's voice turned frosty as he snarked, "Hey, Lawson. Do you even know how many lives are involved within that one single word 'misunderstanding'? Forget the incident 17 years ago; were the lives of the workers who died in that explosion just a misunderstanding to you?!"
Jonah quickly sensed that Kingsley had no intention of resolving this matter peacefully. So, he couldn't help but grow anxious as he blurted, "What do you want then?! Even if I did everything you said, it has nothing to do with my son! Don't harm him! You can have anything you want! Even my life! Just don't hurt Ken!"
Jonah's tone had become noticeably agitated!
Kingsley couldn't help but quirk an eyebrow in interest as he mused, "Judging from your words, it seems like you value your eldest son a great deal. However... correct me if I'm wrong, don't you still have a younger son, Peter Lawson? Even if I do kill Kendall today, the Lawson Family won't die out just like that. Why are you so worried?"
"He is my son! How can I not value him?!" Jonah's voice became unstable with anxiety as he suggested, "It doesn't matter how many sons I have. They are all my flesh and blood! I will never allow them to come to harm!"
Although he was saying those things now, he couldn't deny that deep down in his heart, Kendall held much more weight than Peter!
Kendall was the one who would inherit his assets and become the future patriarch of the Lawson Family. Kendall was the heir he had chosen to become the chairman of Lawson Group.
On the other hand, Peter was just a useless spare in his eyes. Frankly, he had already lost hope for that particular son of this!
Jonah worried about the future of the Lawson Family if anything untoward were to happen to Kendall!
As Jonah's tone grew increasingly anxious, Kingsley's lips were finally painted with a genuine smile.
The Jacob Family and The Foxes had already paid their interests for now. So, how could he possibly let the Lawson Family go?
"Oh dear, Jonah. There's no need to make such a fuss. Please don't worry. Mr Lawson is still safe and sound," Kingsley said, standing up and approaching Kendall. "Well, Mr. Lawson? Come on, let me give your father some peace of mind."
Kendall was beyond confused as he had overheard the conversation Kingsley had with his father earlier. What explosion case? What happened seventeen years ago? I have no idea what they're talking about! NôvelDrama.Org owns this text.
Now he vaguely understood that Boss Nicholson bringing him here was definitely not just for Yulia Ansley!
There had to be an old grudge between him and his father!
When Kendall thought of that, he instantly cried his little heart out, "Dad, please do as Boss Nicholson says! Just do whatever he asks you to do! I don't want to die!"
He raised his head and pleaded with Kingsley, saying, "Boss Nicholson, I don't know what grievances you have with my father, but I'm sure my father will definitely agree to any demands you make! Just give the order!"
The phone was on speaker. So, Jonah's voice immediately came through as he chattered, "That's right, Kingsley. It doesn't matter what grievances we had in the past! I'm sure we can talk things out! You can have anything you want as long as you release my son!"
Kingsley smirked. "Is that so?"
"Of course!"
"Very well." Kingsley's voice was filled with bitter malevolence as he declared, "I want your life! Choose. Your life for your son's freedom. A life for a life!"
