Chapter 98
Shakira was carefree and quickly moved past her emotions, soon drifting into sleep. Meanwhile, Walter, who had turned his back, remained silent, listening to the sounds behind him. As proud as he was, he expected Shakira to come and coax him, to admit her mistake and apologize, and he could reluctantly forgive her. However, he maintained this posture for a long time, and despite half of his body going numb, he still didn't hear her stir.
Walter's face was filled with brewing anger. When he finally turned around, he saw Shakira lying on her side, already curled up and sound asleep.
Walter thought, 'I must be insane for letting her move in to irritate me!'Belongs to NôvelDrama.Org - All rights reserved.
In the hospital, Yvette only had external skin injuries, but the chief physician still advised her to stay in the hospital for observation overnight. Rebecca accompanied her for the night and when visiting hours were over, she reminded Yvette to take good care of herself before leaving.
As soon as the Nelson family left, the weakened Yvette immediately got out of bed, locked the door, and made a video call. Soon, Jessie appeared on the screen, her face swollen and speaking sluggishly, "Yvette, how are you? Do you think the Nelson family will blame you?"
Yvette smiled proudly, "Of course everyone feels sorry for me; they know this isn't my fault. Finn has already taken care of it."
She had overheard the commotion in the study during the day and learned that Lago had done something foolish behind her back. In a moment of desperation, she could only think of using a scapegoat to get out of it. Thankfully, the Nelson family didn't suspect her; they looked at her injuries with concern and felt sorry for her instead.
Jessie sighed in relief, "That's good to hear. Yvette, your dad is running out of options. You're the hope of our whole family; you can't mess this up!"
A flash of disdain crossed Yvette's eyes, "Who told you to take matters into your own hands with Shakira? You didn't even do it well; you deserve this!" 'If things had gone as planned and Shakira was ruined by that despicable pervert, I would have been delighted. But now, Lago and the others have failed and put themselves in danger! What bad luck!"
Before Jessie could explain, Lago suddenly struggled to sit up in his hospital bed. His face was wrapped up like a mummy, still cursing, "It's all Mitchell's fault! If he hadn't interfered, I would have paid off my debts by now and wouldn't have gotten beaten like this!" After venting, Lago winced in pain.
Hearing this, Yvette narrowed her eyes, her tone cold and biting, "He's no longer the Mitchell who only sees me as his precious little sister. Recently, he's been favoring Shakira and ruining our plans."
"Exactly! If he hadn't returned everything to Shakira, we wouldn't be in this mess today!" Jessie added angrily. "He proposed to our parents today that they bring Shakira back home."
"What!" Lago exclaimed in shock. "What did the Nelson family say?"
"Of course, Mom and Dad disagreed!" Yvette lifted her chin defiantly. "But if this continues, Mitchell will only become more of a nuisance. If he finds out things he shouldn't know... I don't mind getting rid of a brother who only brings me trouble," she added nonchalantly, her eyes glinting as she said, "Can Grandpa help us?"
Both Lago and Jessie froze for a moment, exchanging glances that spoke volumes. Jessie said, "I'll go back to the countryside to find your grandpa tomorrow. We absolutely cannot let our precious girl suffer!"
Yvette smirked and urged, "No matter how, you need to get that money sorted out quickly. I can't help now; it's your fault for making a move on Shakira. No matter how much the Nelson family dislikes Shakira, your actions are undoubtedly slapping them in the face." Lago knew the gravity of the situation. "If Dad finds out, you'd better think of a way to help me."

Yvette replied nonchalantly, "Got it."
The next day, when Shakira woke up, Walter was long gone from the next room. She didn't mind and walked into the bathroom while checking her phone, where she saw a message from Sean: [Lago is really desperate now, even selling his house and car. He's got nowhere to run, haha!]
Shakira turned on the tap to wash up, slipped in a Bluetooth earbud, and made a call.
After a while, a soft, sleepy voice picked up, "Boss! is it so early..."
Shakira could almost imagine Cathy rubbing her eyes on the other end, her cute expression barely able to open them. She softened her voice, "Cathy, still sleeping?"
Cathy yawned, "Yeah, I accidentally stayed up all night..."
Shakira chided her, "You need to watch your rest. Don't you want to grow a few more centimeters?"
Cathy whined. "Boss, my bones have already passed the growth stage; I can't grow taller..."
Shakira laughed. "I need a favor from you; it might involve some divination stuff." Mentioning divination instantly perked Cathy up. After briefly explaining what she needed, Shakira couldn't help but remind her to sleep well and eat properly. After hanging up the call, Shakira looked up and gasped. Walter had appeared outside the door, and she didn't know how long he had been listening. She quickly took off her earbud, "Why didn't you knock before coming in?"
Walter had a blank expression, "This is my room."
Shakira went silent. 'Well, Walter's room is where Walter can walk around freely.'
Walter shot her a cold glare before turning to leave. Shakira pouted, relieved that he hadn't seemed to hear much. However she noticed the dark circles under his eyes. 'Could it be he didn't sleep well last night?' No wonder he was in a bad mood so early in the morning. As it turned out, Walter's mood was quite foul today. After Shakira finished breakfast and tidied up a bit, she headed to the study to prepare for Walter's acupuncture treatment. Just outside the door, she overheard him furiously cursing the overseas management team in fluent Yarovian during a conference call. After listening for a while, she felt enlightened. 'I didn't know Yarovia, known for its elegant gentlemen worldwide, had such foul language. Walter really knows them all! No wonder he's Walter; his sharp tongue is hard to match!" "What are you standing there for?" Walter's icy voice made Shakira hurry to push the door open. She held up what she was carrying, "Young Master, it's time for acupuncture."
The management team in the video eagerly awaited Mr. Lopez to shift his anger onto the maid who had interrupted him at such a crucial moment. They thought, "Scold her already; we can't take it anymore!"
