too late for a second chance novel (Lila and Dorian)

Chapter 528

"Why were you born a daughter? Why couldn't you win your father's favor? And

why won't you be obedient and support your brother?

"Do you realize that because of your actions, your father has brought some

vixen's son into our family?"

Listening to Beatrice's hysterical and resentful rant, Faith closed her eyes.

"If you hate me so much, why didn't you just strangle me to death when you saw I

was a girl?"noveldrama

Beatrice was taken aback. "What did you say?"

"If you had just killed me back then, you wouldn't have had to endure all these

years of humiliation because of my existence."

Faith looked at her, her emotions gradually calming down. "Mom, have you ever

loved me?"

She looked at the shocked and puzzled Beatrice, her own expression filled with

disappointment, then added, "I've been wanting to ask this question for a long

time. Have you ever loved me?"

Beatrice's mouth twitched slightly, but no words came out. Staring at her daughter

who, at some point, had already grown taller than her, she remained silent.

"How could I not love you?"

Faith glanced at her. "If you love me, can you favor me just this once?"

"What do you mean?" Beatrice frowned, her gaze somewhat wary.

That cautious look stung Faith, but she still voiced her request. "Help me fight for

control of Moore Group. Can you transfer your shares to me?"

The moment her words landed, Beatrice shoved her hard, causing Faith to

stumble back and hit her lower back against the corner of the desk. A sharp pain

spread through her, turning her face pale.

Beatrice continued rambling, "You have some nerve! Don't even think about

surpassing..." She was about to say "Andy" when she recalled Faith's earlier

words and the extreme disappointment in her eyes, and her tone shifted.

"Your father will never agree to this. Even without him or Andy, there's still that old

fox Uncle Harrison. No matter what, Moore Group can never be yours."

Enduring the pain in her back, Faith gritted her teeth and spoke slowly. "If we don't

even try, how will we know it's impossible?"

"You're insane!"

"So, you're still choosing Andy, aren't you?"

Faith stared deep into Beatrice's eyes, stubbornly demanding an answer.

Beatrice's heart trembled. She suddenly recalled the time she had gone through

difficult labor, pleading with the doctors to save her child.

She had once held genuine hope for Faith. As a mother, how could she not love

her own child?

But over the years, she had been

swayed by the Moore family's view

on prioritizing the sons of the family.

Bit by bit, she began losing patience

with Faith...

Until finally, only Andy occupied the space in her heart.

Beatrice hesitated for a moment, then softened her tone. "Faith, you can't win."

Faith lowered her eyes. She should've known that no one would ever choose her.

For so many years, the first person

to stand up for her wasn't even

someone with a close connection to

her. It was someone she had once

cornered and opposed-Lila.

She recalled Lila's question to her.

"All these years, have you never had another choice?"

Faith wiped away the tear stains on her face, forcing a weak smile.

"Mom, today will be the last time I

shed tears for you and the Moore

family. I won't ever hope that you will

choose me again. After all these

years, whatever little love and care

you gave me, I've already repaid.

"I've spent over 20 years sacrificing myself for you and Andy. That should be

enough to repay you, right?"

Beatrice frowned as she looked at the usually obedient daughter before her-the

daughter who had always endured beatings and scoldings in silence.

Why did a few simple words that day make her seem so completely hopeless?

A faint sense of unease crept into Beatrice's heart. "What do you mean?"
