Too Late, Mr. Billionaire: You can’t afford me now

Chapter 910

Chapter 910:

“One moment, please hold.”

There was a brief pause as the line went quiet, save for the distant sounds of the embassy office. Soon, the phone was handed over.

Linda’s voice came through, shaky and urgent. “Eric!”

“Linda. I’m here,” he said quickly, trying to keep his tone steady.

“You’re okay now. No one’s going to hurt you.”

“Yes, I know.”

“Good.” Eric’s focus sharpened as he pressed on. “Who broke into your place? Did you see anyone?”

“They were from Srixby!” Linda didn’t hesitate. “I woke up to noises in the house. And before they left, one of them said they had a message for you.”

“What message?”

“They said you’re really good at hiding.” Her voice shook. “Eric… do you think they’ve figured it out?”

Realization dawned on Eric—it had to be the Scott family. They couldn’t reach him, so they went after Linda instead.

The Scotts were relentless, willing to harm anyone, even their own, to get what they wanted. Eric cursed himself for involving Linda in his troubles.

“Linda, I’m going to come over as soon as I can to bring you back home. Until then, stay close to the embassy and contact the police if anything feels wrong. Can you do that?”

“Alright!”

After ending the call, Eric glanced at the clock and rushed to the car park, his mind racing as he drove towards the film set. On the drive, he dialed Ernest. “Ernest, it’s me…”

With Christmas just days away, the film crew scheduled one final table reading before the post-holiday shoot officially kicked off. Once the session wrapped, people began filtering out of the conference room.noveldrama

“Mr. Flynn.”

“Hello, Mr. Flynn.”

At the conference room doorway, Eric flashed a smile at everyone greeting him and bidding him farewell.

Hadley, clutching her bag, noticed him but quickly looked away and sped up.

“Hadley!” Eric swiftly made his way through the crowd to catch up with her, looking down at her with a grin. “What’s the rush? You didn’t even notice me?”

Feeling cornered, Hadley responded truthfully, “I did see you. That’s exactly why I sped up.”

“Ouch.” He laughed under his breath. “Come on. The car’s waiting out front. If we take too long, the traffic officers will be on us.”

He gently ushered her towards the car, and they set off for Millland Road.

Hadley reclined in her seat, silently observing the scenery flickering past.

“Joy should be back by now, shouldn’t she?” Eric peered outside, noting the blustery weather. “Not the best day to play outdoors, too windy.”

“Yeah.” Hadley murmured, her voice low.

“About dinner—what should we have?” Eric shifted the conversation. “Melba’s cooking is always a hit.”

Hadley turned sharply, narrowing her eyes. “You’re not planning on inviting yourself over again, are you?”
