Chapter 950
Chapter 950:
“Hold me!”
Eric paused, unsure if he should embrace her.
“Please!” Joy’s pout was irresistible. “I need a hug!”
“Okay.” Eric couldn’t deny his daughter. Without further delay, he scooped Joy into his arms and glanced at Hadley, hoping for her approval.
“I’ll walk you and Joy upstairs to your door, and then I’ll head out.” Joy clung to Eric tightly. Hadley saw the tender scene and couldn’t object.
“Mommy said yes,” Joy muttered gently to Eric as she snuggled contentedly into his shoulder.
Her whispers, meant to be private, carried clearly to those nearby. “Will you and Mommy get married?”
Caught off guard, Eric’s eyebrow lifted. “Joy, do you understand what that means?”
“Yes!” Joy’s nod was enthusiastic. “It means you’ll be my daddy forever! Only mommies and daddies kiss, right?” The innocence of a child’s logic shone through.
Uncertain, Eric looked towards Hadley, and then whispered back to Joy. He asked gently, “So, you think we should get married?”
“Absolutely!” Joy’s response was instant, her head bobbing up and down as she clung to Eric, whispering close to his ear. “You’re the one I want as my daddy!”
Upon hearing her words, Eric’s reaction was a mix of stiffness and a flood of emotions. He thought, “Joy, I am already your daddy.” As he tightened his embrace, Eric’s voice was gentle. “And I want to be your dad, too.”
“I know! That’s why you kissed Mommy!”
Nearby, Melba bit her lip, stifling her laughter while sneaking peeks at Hadley.
The conversation between father and daughter visibly moved Hadley, stirring her emotions profoundly…

Two days after the emotional moment, Eric received his medical update.
“Mr. Flynn is showing good signs of recovery,” the doctor said. “He should keep up the treatment for a few more days and then transition from IV to oral medication. He might choose to either stay in the hospital or recover at home. However, he must avoid overexertion. We recommend a return to work after at least a month and follow-up monthly check-ups for half a year to ward off any complications.”
At this news, relief washed over the Flynn family.
Eric turned to Ernest with a smile. “The doctor’s orders are to rest, so I’m handing over the business reins to you, Ernest. Remember, I need to take it easy; no overworking.”
“Humph.” Ernest gave a derisive snort and rolled his eyes at his brother.
Clearly, Eric was returning the favor since Ernest often griped about Eric involving him too much in business matters!
Nyla couldn’t suppress her giggles. “Really, how old are you? Still acting like a child.”
She was visibly delighted, though.
In other families, brothers usually quarreled over their inheritance, but her grandsons had remained close since their youth.
Such unity was essential for the family’s prosperity.
Feeling significantly better, Eric completed the procedures to be discharged from the hospital.
Phillips took care of the necessary documents while Hadley and the caregiver organized their belongings. Downstairs, Sebastian was ready to leave. The Flynn family had missed celebrating Christmas properly due to Eric’s injury, so they resolved to make the most of the rest of the holidays.
“Everything’s set to go.”
