Chapter 85
Chapter 85
Brett obeyed the doctor's orders and didn't touch Izabella anymore, but his hands were still restless on her waist. Like a drunken and full emperor, he patted Izabella's cheek and said contentedly, "You were way better just now than before when you just laid there like a dead fish in bed. Keep it up."
Izabella smiled without making a sound. When she was sincere to him, he despised her; when she pretended to act, he actually liked it.
Brett went to take a shower after grabbing his clothes. Izabella picked up the photo album from the floor, patted the dust off, and carefully put it back in its original position.
Brett didn't completely believe Izabella's words, so he called Dr. James once he entered the bathroom.
The other party answered with a puzzled tone, "President Windham, what can I help you with so late?"
"Can I sleep with Izabella recently?"
"Has Ms. Salotti's period ended?" Dr. James asked.
Brett's eyes darkened, "It should be over already."
After a long silence on the phone, it said, "Ms. Salotti is still on medication, so it's better not to have sex."
"Ok." Brett replied and hung up the call.
Dr. James stared at the phone screen in confusion. Why was Brett calling so late just to ask if they could have sex? She thought to herself, "I didn't expect Brett to care so much for Izabella."
After hanging up the call, Brett put his phone on the washbasin. He was relieved that Izabella didn't lie to him.
Brett found a hair dryer after showering. Izabella was lying on her bed with her hair still wet, so he plugged in the dryer and asked, "Do you want to blow dry your hair yourself or do you want me to help you?"
Izabella didn't move, "I don't want to blow dry it, it'll dry on its own."
"When did you become so lazy?" Brett noticed her tired face and lack of spirit in her eyes, completely different from her usual image as a powerful woman. Let alone the energy she usually had when sassing him.
Seeing she was tired, Brett supported the back of Izabella's head and let her rest on his lap.
Her long, silky hair dangled in the air as he turned on the hairdryer. Her hair was fine and soft, like silk, with great texture.
It took ten minutes to blow dry her long hair. As he gazed at the contented face of Izabella sleeping in his lap, he couldn't help but pinch her face.
Izabella woke up and looked up at the man above her with bleary eyes. She felt her hair and found it dry.
She rolled off Brett's lap and onto the other side of the bed, still wrapped in the blanket like a baby.
Brett couldn't help but smile at her rare, cute appearance. His heart felt warm as if it was filled with something. Original from NôvelDrama.Org.
Time flew by, and a week passed in a blink of an eye. Izabella had to rest at home because of the abortion and hadn't gone out.
The director of the orphanage called her twice, asking how she was doing and when she would like to pick up her gifts.
After exchanging a few words, Ryker took the phone away.
"You lied to me." His voice was full of hurt. Izabella could tell how upset he must be.
"What did I lie to you about?"
"You said you'd come to the orphanage, but you still haven't come, and you didn't even call."
"I'm recovering at home. I'll go see you when I get better."
She didn't hear his response, but she added, "My car is still parked in the orphanage. I won't abandon it."
"I'll take good care of your car and not let anyone touch it. I wipe off the dust daily."
Izabella laughed, and thought he was like a sweet puppy.
"Thank you. I'll buy you something snacks when I come back."
"Ok."
"What do you like to eat?" Izabella asked.
Ryker innocently replied, "Whatever you get for me, I'll like it."
Izabella's heart warmed up like never before. She couldn't help but wonder why she cared so much about Ryker and why he was so nice to her.
She had many questions but knew that being with Ryker made her feel relaxed and even brought back some beautiful memories from 16 years ago.
Suddenly, a knock on the door interrupted Izabella's thoughts. She went to the door and opened it to find Trista holding a broom and a mop, "Ms. Salotti, I have to clean the room. You can sit in the living room for a while, and I'll be done soon."
Without giving it much thought, Izabella agreed since Trista mainly cleaned the house.
As Izabella went to the backyard with her phone and tablet, Trista snuck around and confirmed that Izabella wouldn't come back upstairs anytime soon. She entered Izabella's bedroom with her cleaning tools, apparently cleaning, but actually trying to find dirt on her.
The medication Dr. James prescribed to Izabella had run out, but Trista noticed Izabella taking pills this morning.
Trista rummaged through the room shamelessly, searching from the bookshelf, drawers to the wardrobe, and finally found a few bottles of medication labeled as health products in the bottom drawer of the bedside table.
