Under the Heiress' Facade

Chapter 760

Chapter 760

From Daphne's horror and look of disbelief, Ember knew she had overheard everything. If Albert learned of the truth, Rhett would be completely done for.

Ember wanted him to succeed Albert as the next head of the family, so she would never let Daphne tell anyone the truth.

"When did you get here, Daphne?" Ember stepped forward and asked with a forced smile.

Daphne noticed Ember's unfriendly smile and did not answer her. Instead, she asked

anxiously, "Mom, have you seen Cecily? I don't know where she went and haven't been able to find her."

Ember grew suspicious upon hearing that. She scrutinized Daphne's expression as if she were trying to catch her lying.

"Ms. Cecily didn't show up here, Ms. Daphne," the maid beside Ember responded to Daphne. "Alright. I'll check out Bernard's place, then," Daphne said before turning to leave in a hurry.

Ember watched Daphne dash away with a sinister gaze. Indeed, Daphne had heard everything. Ember would not let her live for long.

Gemma happened to turn up at the same time. She had seen Daphne dashing off while she was on the way here.

"Mrs. Killian Senior, what was Daphne doing here?" Gemma asked.

A glint of deviousness flashed through Ember's eyes as she replied, "Gemma, I don't think your secret will stay hidden for long."

Gemma was frightened to hear that and immediately tugged at Ember's hand. "Mrs. Killian Senior, did she find any evidence?"

Ember looked solemn and did not respond. Noticing her demeanor made Gemma more terrified than ever. "What should I do? I don't want to go to jail.

"Mrs. Killian Senior, you must help me since we're in the same boat. Please quickly help me come up with an idea."

Ember was very satisfied with Gemma's reaction. She pretended to pat Gemma's hand warmly. "Don't fret. Since Lucius has already gone to jail on your behalf, there's no need for him to come out again.

"As long as you look out for Rhett in the future, such as helping him out in the company, I won't mind helping you handle this matter."noveldrama

Back then, Gemma was the financial officer of Killian Corporation. After hearing Ember out, Gemma immediately understood that Ember wanted her to let Rhett off for

misappropriating the public funds.

"Of course! Definitely!" Gemma answered. "I'll also find the right time to hand over the financial officer position to Rhett."

Ember was very satisfied to hear Gemma's answer. Later, Ember instructed Linda to seek out Queenie and arrange for Robin to kill Daphne in a car crash.

Ember repeated the whole story, which matched the investigation's results earlier. The recollection of what happened helped link everything together. The truth was finally out.

Meanwhile, the interrogator continued the questioning in Interrogation Room 1. "Isn't Lucius your biological son as well? How could you sacrifice him?"

"In comparison to Rhett, Lucius was far too useless! All he did every day was read books and admire art with Greg, completely neglecting his responsibilities. I did sacrifice Lucius in exchange for Rhett's success. It's the price he has to pay for being a Killian," Ember explained.

"In the end, Rhett didn't become the head of the family. He was merely appointed as the CEO of Killian Corporation," the interrogator remarked.

"Exactly. I never expected that Albert would hand over all his shares to Bernard, that illegitimate child of his. He even made Chad the head of the family!" Ember exclaimed disdainfully. "I can understand what he did for Chad. But Bernard doesn't deserve those shares!"

It went silent in the control room. After hearing the whole story, Hera clenched her fists tightly.

The situation was so ironic. No wonder Lucius said that the whole Killian family would go to jail if Hera continued her investigation.

The Killians had schemed against each other for so many years. However, they were surprisingly united to keep the whole matter a secret and protect one another.

Bernard never expected that matter would expose the truth behind the death of Chad's baby. Instead of feeling sorry for Chad, Bernard merely thought that he had gotten off easy.

"What's next?" Joshua asked. He then subconsciously continued, "Will the matter be handled privately or according to the law?"
