When fate plays its hand

Chapter 667

When Sam looked up and saw Miranda, a faint smile appeared on his usually expressionless face.

Since Miranda was selecting shoes for Aren, the elderly gentleman, she knew she couldn’t focus solely on style; comfort was essential. However, she also couldn’t prioritize comfort and ignore style entirely.

She recalled the time they met at the bookstore. Aren was leaning on a cane, dressed in a vest and suit with his hair meticulously combed. From head to toe, he exuded the charm of a gentleman. He was clearly very particular about his attire.

Therefore, Miranda took extra time choosing. Leather shoe materials typically came in just a few varieties. She specified the two most comfortable types and asked the sales assistant to bring out all the shoes made from those leathers.

During this time, Paul got up to use the restroom. And soon, Miranda had selected two pairs.

“I think both of these are good, Mr. Cooper. Why don’t you pick one?” she suggested.

Sam pulled out his card immediately. “Why choose? Wap them both up. Since you picked them, he’ll definitely like them.”

Miranda was skeptical. “Isn’t that a bit much?”

“You’ll understand how highly they think of you once you meet them in person.”

“I’d love to meet them. They seem so kind…”

Sam’s gaze softened suddenly.

While the sales assistant was packaging the shoes, Sam poured Miranda a cup of coffee. Noticing it was a bit cold, he asked another assistant to prepare a new one. Only then did he hand it to her..

“Have some coffee–it’s warm.”

“Thank you.” Miranda accepted the cup but kept her eyes glued to the display shelves. She wanted to pick out a pair for Lionel.

Sam’s gaze rested on her. “Would you like more coffee?”

Miranda shook her head. “No, thank you.”

He then stood up and approached her, taking the empty cup from her hands. This scene happened to be witnessed by Nelly, who was passing by the store and intended to go in for a look.

She raised an eyebrow but wasn’t surprised. She knew her son had been quite the ladies‘ man over the years. Sam had his limits; he played around but never took anyone seriously, so as his mother, she hadn’t interfered much. This belongs to NôvelDrama.Org - ©.

She simply thought perhaps he had found a new girlfriend. Nelly then paused and stepped back out of the store, clearly not planning to disturb her son. However, the next scene made her expression shift slightly.

She saw her typically proud son personally pouring coffee for a woman, then standing up to hand it directly to her. After she finished drinking, he went over to take the cup back.

That attentive attitude, that considerate behavior… It was hard to imagine that this gentle, thoughtful man

was actually Sam!

Nelly couldn’t help but frown. It was fine to play around, but getting serious–that wouldn’t do.

Thinking this, she carefully observed the woman. Sam was standing slightly to the side, conveniently blocking the woman’s face. She couldn’t see her features, but her figure and demeanor were quite good, and her attire was tasteful.

Nelly glanced at her watch. She remembered she had an appointment, so she didn’t linger and turned to leave. She trusted her son to know which women were suitable to bring home and which were just for fun.

Meanwhile, Nelly arrived at the restaurant to find Susan already there, staring off into space. She took a seat and couldn’t help teasing. “Who rained on your parade?”

Susan snapped back to reality. “When did you get here? You gave me a fright! And it’s nothing…”

“Doesn’t sound like nothing. Let’s order and chat while we eat.”

Soon, the dishes were served. Susan seemed like she had lost her appetite. “I just saw my son with a

woman.

“Really? What a coincidence–I just saw my son with a woman too.”
