When Her "Death" Couldn't Break Him

Chapter 1992

Chapter 1992 Had A Boyfriend

After he finished speaking, Magnus looked deeply into Denise's eyes. "Are we still friends?"

In the past, he only associated with fair-weather friends. The moment he ran out of money, they would ignore him.

However, Denise was different. She had taken him in when he was penniless and treated him so kindly.

It was only now that he truly understood what a real friend was. He didn't want to lose Denise.

When he asked her that, she didn't know how to respond. She turned her head away. "Let's talk about it later."

She hastily left the ward, closing the door behind her.

Magnus watched her retreating figure, a faint smile playing at the corners of his mouth.

For some reason, even though his body was still in pain, he felt incredibly happy. Denise went out to get Magnus a bowl of oatmeal and some nourishing broth. She spent quite a bit of money on these items before bringing them back.

Magnus was somewhat taken aback when he saw the assortment of food she had brought.

"This must have cost quite a bit, right?"

Having grown accustomed to living frugally with Denise, Magnus felt embarrassed to even touch the expensive item she had suddenly bought for him.

"The doctor said you need to eat these soft foods now and also pay attention to nutrition. Try to eat more," Denise said without a change in her expression.

Magnus, however, did not start eating. Instead, he asked her, "What about you? What are you eating?"

"I just bought a few bread earlier. I'm full."

Denise still couldn't bring herself to spend money on her own needs.

Upon hearing that, Magnus felt somewhat discontented. "Didn't I earn two hundred thousand last night? You should spend it. Why are you still eating bread? Look at how skinny you've become."

Denise gave him a sidelong glance. "That's your money. I can't use it. I'll only take back the hundred thousand that's rightfully mine."

She was a stubborn person; when she said no, she meant it.

Magnus knew her very well. "If you continue like this, I won't eat."noveldrama

Denise looked at him in surprise, somewhat puzzled.

"Why?"

Magnus worked so hard to earn this money. He's upset at me because I refused to use it?

"There's no particular reason." Magnus turned around. "I just can't enjoy good food when I'm eating alone."

Seeing him in this state, Denise chuckled. "All right. Let's eat

together. I bought quite a lot, sel

you

probably won't be able to finish it all

by yourself."

Only then did Magnus turn to look at her. "That's more like it. Could you give me a hand?"

Denise reached out to steady him.

The woman was standing quite

close, a faint, pleasant scent wafting into Magnus' nostrils. Piqued by

curiosity, he asked, "Are you wearing perfume?”

"Are you kidding? I don't even have money for perfume." Denise glanced at him,

then asked, "What's wrong?"

"You smell quite nice," Magnus mumbled.

"That might be the scent of laundry detergent," Denise responded.

Yet, Magnus didn't think so. After all, when he was living with Denise,

used the same brand of launde 1.9

detergent, and he never noticed this subtle, fresh scent.

Unable to make sense of it, Magnus decided not to dwell on it anymore.

The two of them were dining together, with Magnus occasionally glancing at Denise.

Noticing that, Denise asked him with a puzzled expression, "Why are you always staring at me?"

Quickly, Magnus averted his gaze. "Can't I even take a glance? You're so petty."

Once he finished speaking, he suddenly asked, "Denise, have you never had a boyfriend before?"

Denise's hand paused as she held the spoon, falling into silence for a moment before she responded, "I've been in a relationship before."

"And then? Why aren't you together anymore?" Magnus hastily asked, unaware of the inexplicable tension in his heart.

"Because of my parents' illness, I didn't want to burden him," Denise responded.

A sense of inexplicable unease settled in the depths of Magnus' heart.
