Was Evelina really thinking about the bigger picture?

Lemira hurled a cup at Evelina, the liquid splashing onto her. "She's only thinking about herself."

Evelina clutched her hand, looking hurt and upset, clearly too afraid to retaliate.

Asher immediately defended Evelina. "Lemira, how dare you get physical? You're becoming more and more outrageous."

"Yeah, I am outrageous. What are you gonna do about it?" Lemira's eyes gleamed with defiance, her demeanor sharp and unyielding.

Asher stared at Lemira, finally conceding. If this situation escalated, regardless of Evelina's schemes or Lemira's retaliation, it wouldn't bode well for the Langston family.

Asher tossed a signed document at Caspian. "You all think you're so independent now. Let's see how far you get!"

Lemira responded coolly, "Don't worry, the company will go further than you think."

Honestly, the entertainment company had only survived thanks to Caspian's acting skills and those three brilliant scripts she wrote.

Asher was in a foul mood as he glanced at Evelina. "You know what to tell the police, right?"

"I know," Evelina whispered, sensing Asher's frustration. Lemira had clearly put him in a difficult position, but Evelina was disheartened too.

Everything should've been hers, but Lemira had snatched it away. If her father hadn't warned her last night, she would've already turned against the Langston family.

Lemira could've intervened, but she just stood by. Evelina ended up being implicated; everyone wanted to sweep it under the rug, and now Lemira was getting so much out of it!

Soon, the police arrived.

Evelina went pale, shrinking into the couch, worried about what might be uncovered.

Lemira suddenly sat across from Evelina, a sly smile on her face. "Why so nervous? Didn't you want to get to the bottom of this? Go on, talk to the police."

Evelina kept her mouth shut, fearing that provoking Lemira would lead to her spilling everything to the police.

In the end, the story went that Zack had stolen from the family, and his suicide was the consequence of being found out. The body was quickly taken away.

After seeing the police off, Asher finally relaxed and turned to Lemira in the living room. "Are you satisfied now?"

"Honestly, not really."

"Do you have to be so confrontational all the time?"

Lemira raised an eyebrow. "If someone makes me uncomfortable, I'll make sure they're twice as uncomfortable."

Asher was visibly frustrated, but he couldn't bring himself to be harsh

He stormed off, "I'm going to the office."

Evelina looked pitiful. "Asher, could you take me to the hospital?"

She didn't want to be alone at the Langston family estate. Without Asher's

support, she'd be at a disadvantage.

Asher led Evelina out of the hall.

Evelina, still teary-eyed, said, "Asher,

maybe I should just move out fora while. Staying here will only upset Lemia and cause fights with you all

"Eve, don't worry about Lemira. Just stay put."

Evelina bit her lip. She really wanted to move out this time. Lemira was a force to be reckoned with, and Evelina didn't want to suffer any more losses.

"Asher, maybe I should move out temporarily and come back when Lemira's calmed down?"

"No need for all that trouble. But in the meantime, if you have to take a hit, take it. Don't provoke Lemira."

Evelina was fuming inside. Why should she have to take a hit?noveldrama

Lemira had only just returned, yet everyone was siding with her. If Evelina didn't act soon, she'd definitely be thrown out.

Trying to change the subject, Evelina asked, "Asher, how's the Al project going? That foreign investor seemed promising."

"Still negotiating. Need to investigate their background," Asher replied.
