Chapter 268
Chapter 268 Sparkle and Blossom
Hope nodded and said, “You’re right, Maia. We have to think from all angles before doing anything. Acting recklessly is just asking for trouble!”
Victoria agreed. “That’s right. The business world is a battlefield, especially when there’s something to be gained. The same can be said for wealthy families too.
“Everyone is scheming and plotting against each other to gain more power. It ends in a bloodbath every time! | wouldn't have cut ties with my family otherwise...” She sighed.
“Victoria...” Hope felt sorry for her. The Smith family is also a renowned family, ranking just slightly below the Larkins. She could talk about the family feuds for days and nights and she would get no closer to finishing the story.
The Larkins were enjoying relative peace because everyone was wary of Cedric. They could do nothing but lie in wait.
The same couldn't be said for the Smiths, though. No one had the capability to reign over the entire family. So, they were divided by countless internal feuds over the family properties.
Maia saw that Victoria was very sad about it. She said, “It’s always darkest before the dawn.” Victoria raised her head, looked at Maia, and smiled, “That does it, Hope. Maia is my friend too now!”
“Like two peas in a pod.” Maia glanced at Victoria. She would love to be her friend. They were so similar in terms of their tempers. Fate must have brought them together.
The three of them enjoyed each other's company so much so that Victoria handpicked a gown for Maia to wear to The Horizon Awards.
“The gown Hope picked for you earlier suits you exceptionally well. | call it Sparkle. It matches your bright future, Maia. That’s why you're going to put it on!”
Victoria gave the gown to Maia, “I designed it myself. I’m not letting you turn me down. Otherwise, I'll feel very bad.”
Maia was a little speechless. She would be such a buzzkill if she said no. Although this gown was not as revealing as the others, but it was a little too much for her.
With that said, there was a first time for everything. Perhaps she should try it out. “Okay,” she said.
Hope saw that and looked at Victoria delightfully, “I can’t believe Maia agreed to it, Victoria! If | had known it'd be this easy, then I would've asked Ava to bring you down here earlier. | don’t care if you’re busy working!”
“Maia was just doing me a favor!”
Maia watched as both of them talked before following Ava to the fitting room. Then, Victoria started to pick a gown for Hope. “Blossom is just the dress for you! After all, you’re one of the four most popular actresses!”
Hope looked at the dress Victoria picked for her. It was comprised of various unique colors. She could not quite tell what color tones there were.
It looked like thousands of flowers were blooming at the same time. It was completely different from Sparkle.
After that, Hope went into the fitting room too. Victoria was gobsmacked when she saw both of them dressed in the gowns she had designed.
“What on earth did both of you eat growing up? Do you skip full meals and merely drink water?”
Ava, too, was stunned. Victoria’s gowns were not meant for everyone. It called for a curvaceous figure. She had seen a lot of celebrities try on her gowns.
She was amazed by Hope previously. Then, Maia brought out the same sense of awe this time. Now that both of them were standing side by side, the admiration she had for them had doubled!NôvelDrama.Org holds text © rights.
Victoria could not believe her eyes. She stood there, motionless, for a few seconds. She was so amazed that she walked closer and looked over both of them.
“You looked like a deity dancing in the galaxies once you put on the Sparkle, Maia. There’s more. I’m getting a sense of sexy playfulness. What a wonderful figure!”
Victoria turned to Hope and said, “The colors on Blossom aren't exactly accommodating, but you wore it like a flower nymph nonetheless. How did both of you come to have such delicate figures?”
“A lady is nothing without her dress. You have done a superb job designing these gowns.” Maia gave her a compliment when she saw Victoria's troubled look.
Hope nodded and said, “That’s right. You showered us with compliments, Victoria. Come on. Look who's talking. Don’t you know you have a great figure too?”
Ava nodded earnestly. The three of them standing together painted a picture! Even the pedestrians out on the streets could not help but cast a glance their way.
“Both of you have to come to my studio. I’m working on two casual dresses and | think they sing to you. So, I’m going to tailor them for both of you and give them to you as gifts!”
Hope was surprised. “That’s too much, Victoria. The dresses you design are worth thousands
“| don’t have anything for you in return. How could | accept such an expensive gift?” Maia looked at Victoria and shook her head, “You poured your heart and soul into the dresses. It’s only right that we pay for them!”
Maia moved to take a credit card from her pouch, but she was shot down by Victoria.
“My designs are important, but the fact that my dresses suited both of you that well gave me a massive boost in my confidence. Furthermore, you're my friends. Of course, | have to give you unique dresses as presents!
“You could wear it to work, Maia. You, on the other hand, could wear it to various functions, Hope!”
Victoria was so enthusiastic that Maia was having trouble turning down her offer. “Alright. Hope and | will gladly accept those dresses, but | insist on paying for Sparkle and Blossom.”
“That won't be necessary. We're friends, after all!” Victoria shook her head.
Maia was adamant, “It’s because we're friends that we want to support you.”
“You said it, Maia.” Hope agreed. She proceeded to take a credit card from her pouch, but Maia stopped her.
