Chapter 64
Chapter 64 She Was Breathtaking
Another roar of the thunder woke Mala from her trance. She quickly rushed to shut her windows while calming herself. There was no need to think about the past. Everything was
over. The rain continued to fall all night and did not stop until dawn. “Mr. Cedric, you should allow the doctor to check on you.” Oswald came into Cedric’s bedroom, trying to get him to cooperate.
Cedric had changed everyone who worked in his villa after what had happened to Maia. He also went to great lengths to reclaim Oswald.
Oswald had been his caretaker since Cedric was a child, and Cedric knew he could trust him.
“Baz, you should help me out here. Aren’t you Mr. Cedric’s assistant?” Oswald yelled at Baz.
Baz did not know what more he could do. “You know what Mr. Cedric is like. | can’t change his mind if he doesn’t want to listen.” He looked over at Cedric. The man stood by the window, overlooking Prismara Hill’s rainy view.
Baz muttered, “Ms. Maia used to love looking at the rain. However, she’d always end up sobbing.”
Cedric turned swiftly toward Baz and demanded he repeat what he just said.
Baz did not expect Cedric to hear him. “I was once assigned to retrieve a document for you. Some housekeepers told me that Ms. Maia enjoys watching the rain at Prismara Hill. She would always cry because her eyes were red and swollen after that.”
“Maybe she knew the person she was waiting for would never show up,” Oswald added quietly as he glanced at Cedric.
Cedric’s frown deepened as he felt his heart tighten in pain. Even their housekeepers were more aware of her anguish than he was. Cedric had never been angrier at himself.
He cursed under his breath and punched the cabinet hard. One of the picture frames fell to the ground and shattered. Oswald immediately moved over to clean up.
As he picked up the shattered pieces, he noticed words scribbling at the back of the photograph. “Mr. Cedric, you should see this!” Oswald exclaimed. +15 BONUS
He quickly handed the photograph to Cedric. It was a picture of Maia in her wedding dress. That was the day of their wedding photoshoot, but he did not turn up.
Cedric turned the picture over to study the words written behind it. “It’s exhausting doing the shoot all by myself. | hope he will consider doing another one with me. | know
this is highly unlikely, but | want to be hopeful.”
‘Cedric, you piece of trash! You're such a horrible husband!”
“Baz, bring me all her wedding photos!”
“Yes, right away!”
“Oswald, bring Dr. Moore in.”
The last line on the photograph said, ‘I pray you will forever be blessed with happiness and health.”
He decided to receive treatment, as this was what Maia wanted for him. If it were her wish, he would gladly fulfill it.
Oswald rushed out of the bedroom and directed Dr. Moore to check up on Cedric. Meanwhile, Baz returned with the rest of the photographs.
As Dr. Moore applied medication to Cedric’s back, his eyes drifted to the wedding photos. When he saw Maia, he was shocked. Cedric continued to study her wedding photos. He could not stop his lips from curving into a smile.
“How could she be so breathtaking?” Cedric sighed.
Aloud thud echoed throughout the room as Dr. Moore dropped the medicine bottle he was holding. This text is © NôvelDrama/.Org.
Baz asked Dr. Moore, “Are you okay, doctor?”
“I'm fine. It was just an accident. My hand slipped!”
Cedric was unconcerned because he was focused on the photographs. He took one of the photos with Maia staring dreamily at the window and slipped it into his wallet.
That surprised Baz, because it seemed like an old-fashioned thing to do.
After dressing his wound, Cedric changed and walked toward the entrance.
Baz hurried after him and asked, “Mr. Cedric, where are you going? Are we leaving for the office now?” It was still early in the morning.

“The sooner | get things done, the sooner I'll be able to see her.”
Baz scoffed. “Mr Cedric, didn’t you promise that you wouldn’t be a bother to Ms. Mala anymore?”
Cedric stopped dead in his tracks and questioned, “Did I?”
Baz nodded.
Cedric narrowed his eyes dangerously as he warned, “I’ve forgotten all about it.”
Baz was rendered speechless. He knew very well that Cedric had an extraordinary memory.
Maia woke up to her alarm’s ringing. She could not remember how she had fallen asleep.
Her head was heavy as she looked out the window. It was still raining, though not as serious as last night.
She got up from bed, dressed, and left for the office. When she exited the elevator, she saw a shadow running towards her. “Maia, are you hurt? How have you been?” Hope took a few turns around Maia and checked her thoroughly.
Maia did not expect to see Hope at the office so early in the morning. She just shook her head.
“I've been waiting for you to be back. |...” Hope eyed Maia nervously as she tried to gather the courage to talk to her. “If you're here to talk about your mother, save it.” Maia would not be merciful this time.
“No! That is not why | am here. | wasn’t in town as | was filming abroad. | wanted to come home as soon as | heard the news, but | had to finish my work before | could. | returned the other night, but you had already left on a business trip.” Hope explained it in detail.
“You're my sister. | wouldn't just ghost you.” Maia remarked as she continued to walk towards her office.
Hope froze in surprise at Maia’s honesty. Moments later, she trailed after Maia, and her spirits lifted. “Really? But I'm not... I'm just your stepsister.”
