Alpha's Second Chance

ROSE

I woke up from the soft touch of Kate, who looked at me with a soft smile. Kyle and Kate were Alpha and Luna once. They let their son take over when Dad and Mom became king and queen, and they chose to serve them as advisers. But in reality, they are much more like family than just advisers, and I know Mom and Dad love them both.

"It is time to wake up, sweetheart. We are landing very soon," she says softly, and I look out the window. Looking down, I see old buildings in old cities, and I can not help but admire what I see.

"It is beautiful," I say, looking back at her, and she smiles.

"Oh, yes. Kyle and I went here for our first vacation together before he became Alpha." She tells me, and I smile.

Kate goes back to her seat, and we all lock our seat belts and wait for the plane to land. It doesn't take long before we are on the ground. The doors open, and we all get out and put our feet on the ground, where a car is already waiting.

I drive with them to the big villa they have rented just outside Milano, and I am staying here for the night so that Kyle can contact the Alpha of the first territory and tell him that we are now in Italy and that we are just outside his territory.

The villa Kyle and Kate are going to stay in is so beautiful. It was built in white with pillars all around holding up the upstairs terrace. Wines are climbing the pillars and also on the outside walls of the house, which have big open windows and doors. When we walked inside, it had the old Italian vibe, but it was stunning, and the garden was absolutely beautiful to look out at.

Kate shows me where I will sleep for the night and leaves me alone to relax a little. I decided to call home and let Dad and Mom know that we had arrived safely. We talk for a while before we hang up.

I use some time to go over my bag and make sure I have everything packed and ready, and when I'm done, I walk downstairs. I find Kate in the kitchen along with a woman I don't know. They are talking in Italian, so I don't understand a word of what is being said. Kate sees me and smiles big before she walks over to me.

"Rose, come meet my cousin Isabella from my mother's sister's husband's side. My mother's sister's mate is human, so his family is, too. But obviously, they know about us and what we are," she tells me. "Ah, yes, I know that you are wolves, a secret we in our family hold dear. So you do not need to fear anything from me." Isabella says as she nods her head.

"Hello, nice to meet you. What are you making?" I ask them.

"Just dinner, my sweet girl. Homemade Italian pizza," Kate says and smiles at me, and I offer to help. So, for the next hour, we make pizzas, and Isabella talks about Italy.

When the food is done, Kyle comes inside the house, followed by a huge man who is undoubtedly a wolf. They greet us before sitting down. I look at Isabella, and I see no fear in her eyes, only friendly admiration, and I think, love.

We all sit down and start eating from the three pizzas we made. They talk about Kyle's and Kate's vacation plans, but then Kyle looks at me.

"Rose, this is Alpha Leonardo. He is the Alpha of this part of Italy. You remember your dad told you there are three packs here?" He says and asks me.

"I do. Hello Alpha, and thank you for letting me do my traveling here," I say respectfully and bow my head shortly. As a royal, I don't need to do this, but my family always does it.

"Princess Rose, it is an honor to help you with your search," The Alpha says and bows his head to me, and I smile.

"Alpha Leo, I have a new map of Italy that I can give you. Also, there is information about the territories and the towns that belong to the wolves," Kyle says, and I get a little confused.

"Towns as in several? I mean, more than three? But Dad said there are three Alphas." I say, confused. "Allow me to explain." Alpha Leonardo says, and Kyle nods his head.

"I know that where you come from, you are used to packs, some big, some smaller. But here in Italy, it is different. As of now, Italy is divided between three Alphas, Alpha Alex and me, who are in the south. And last Alpha Carlos, who has the territory in the middle. In each territory, there is one leader, the Alpha. In each territory, there are some towns like your smaller packs, but there are also towns where wolves live side by side with humans, without the humans knowing, of course. These towns are all ruled by only one Alpha, the one that has the territory." He explains. And I look at him a bit fascinated by this.

"How do you keep an eye on every wolf? If you don't mind me asking." I ask respectfully.

"I have at least one or two wolves in each place that I know I can trust. They are kind of like your dad's Betas, who make sure everything is as it should be. I get reports weekly unless something urgent happens. I imagine the other two Alphas do something similar." Alpha Leonardo tells me.

“Oh, it sounds interesting. And yes, it is very different from what I have grown up with." I say and smile.

"Every town here in my territory

knows that you are here and has

been instructed to treat you well and help the best they can. By foot, it will take three to four days before you reach Alpha Carlos' territory, and if I am not mistaken, Alpha Carlos told you can travel there but that he would not give any instructions other than that you are there." He says, and I can see he is annoyed.

"Is it safe?" I ask.noveldrama

"It should be, as you have been granted permission to travel there. But the towns and wolves there might not be very helpful," he says, and I nod my head.

"Alpha Alex, in the last territory, we, like me, decided to try to help you as much as we can. So when you reach the first town, there you find someone who can let Alpha Alex know you have arrived at his territory, just a courtesy so he knows." Alpha Leonardo says, and I nod my head.

"I will. Thank you. And thank you for explaining all this," I say and smile.

"Oh, you very much welcome Princess. I have great respect for your father. Being one sole leader over so many Alphas is no easy job. Us Alphas can be a bit thick-headed." He chuckles and smiles at me, and we all laugh. Not long after, I decided to go get some rest, as it was getting late. So I thank the Alpha once again, wish them all a good night, and go to get some sleep.
