Chapter 1072
The room went dead quiet.
Yeah.
They didn't have any real proof.
Even if every single one of them knew this was all just a misunderstanding-so what?
Grant wasn't going to believe them.
He'd been raised by his father to be a weapon, tuned for revenge.
And now his father was gone.
How could he just walk away from everything he'd been taught?
Chloe finally broke the silence. "Either way, we have to try. And maybe... maybe we start with Taylor."
Grant had spent forty-eight hours in police custody.
The second he was released, he saw it: a cherry-red Ferrari parked at the curb.
He recognized it instantly-Taylor's car.
Not too long ago, he'd tried to stop her from marrying Isaac.
That fight had pretty much destroyed their sibling bond.
Taylor was dead set on marrying Isaac, and Grant had actually locked her up to stop it.
Taylor being Taylor, she went on a hunger strike.
Eventually, Grant caved and told her everything. Their past. Their real identities. Every secret he'd hidden away.
Taylor was floored.
He'd never said a word about any of this when they were kids.
Turned out, they were the last of the Grevenberg family.
Grant had spent his whole life chasing one thing: revenge.
And Taylor? She'd been a pawn too-placed at Isaac's side for a reason.
The Shaw family? Another name on Grant's list.
Taylor just couldn't take it.
For a while, she gave up on everything.
She didn't see Isaac again, just holed up in her room, shutting out the world.
Until Chloe came to find her...
The bodyguard pushing Grant's wheelchair leaned down. "Sir, that's Miss Taylor."
Grant lifted his hand, and the bodyguard got the message, heading over to the Ferrari.
Taylor climbed out quickly.
She came over herself, took the handles of Grant's wheelchair, and helped him into the car.
Grant settled into the passenger seat.
"So, why are you here?"noveldrama
His voice was cool, unreadable.
Taylor didn't turn the key.
Instead, she looked at him. "Grant, I have something I need to say."
"What is it?"
She took a shaky breath. "Big
brother, the things you told
me-they're just too wild. I've been thinking a lot these last couple of days. No matter what happened back then, it's been fifty years. I don't want to see you weighed down by grudges that old. I don't want my brother, who deserves a good life, to spend it chained to hate."
"Can't you just let it go, Grant?"
His face turned cold, almost scary.
"Taylor, how could you say that? I must have spoiled you. We're the last of the Grevenberg
bloodline revenge is our duty. I kept the truth from you so you wouldn't have to carry this burden as a kid. I gave you twenty years of peace, but I never thought comfort would make you forget where you come from and what you owe. Taylor, you've really let me down."
Taylor felt his words hit her like a punch, but she swallowed and pressed on.
"What if I told you this so-called blood feud you can't let go of, what if it's all just a huge misunderstanding?"
Grant's eyes narrowed, his voice even colder. "Taylor, what are you talking about?"
Taylor's voice was barely above a
whisper. "Chloe came to see me.
She told me some things-stunet
you
might not know..."
What do you think?
