Carter was thrilled about the assignment that Darcy had given him.

He agreed immediately.

"Sure, you can tag along with your sister, but don't go getting involved in any unnecessary trouble. Our family's roots aren't really in Ardenza. If something goes wrong over here, it's not like the Hawke Group can just swoop in to save the day. And Virell is crawling with powerful folks."

Carter huffed, "So what?"

"Some of the rich boys have family ties to the military and government. If you cross them, it could be a hassle."

Carter had always been a bit of a wild card, and Darcy worried about him getting into trouble in Virell.

The man in the military uniform before him was Simon, Beck's superior, ranking equivalent to a marshal, and the head of RapidForce.

"People with talent often come with challenging personalities. It's not easy convincing them to join us. Some don't even have any sense of duty totheir country, but getting them on board is a win regardless." Simon took a drag from his cigarette, eyes scanning Miranda's file.

"By the way, have you got all her prison records?" Simon inquired.

Beck confirmed, "Yes, they're all here for you to review."

"Interesting," Simon mused, exhaling smoke into the air. "Miranda is unlike the other RapidForce members. Others just have special abilities. But Miranda, she has this knack for winning people over and can turn a tough environment to her

advantage. She's got brains and leadership skills."

"Look at these folks," he gestured to the photos in the file. "They're all top-tier talents, infamous for being difficult. Yet, they've all rallied around her. People who were in the same prison with her mostly speak of her with fear. Some even admire her."
