Chapter 662
Chapter 662 Everything Is Linked
When I returned home, I found Zander waiting for me in our room. His arms were crossed, and his expression was a mixture of relief and concern.
"Where were you, mate? I was worried. I couldn't reach you," he said, his voice gentle but laced with unease as he closed the distance between us in two quick steps, taking my hands in his.
The bond from our mating mark had been restored, reestablishing our connection and allowing us to mind-link once more. The link with the pack had also returned. But when I was in the Lunar Realm, the mind-link didn't work. That made it clear: hiding my visit to the Lunar Realm was a bad idea. He'd know if I lied in a heartbeat.
We had promised each other we wouldn't keep secrets anymore. So, I took a deep breath and told him the truth.
"Zander, I went to see my mother," I admitted.
His eyes sharpened, instantly more attentive. "And?" he prompted, his tone calm but firm, knowing I would have had serious discussion with my mother.
I hesitated, searching for the right words. "She told me..." I trailed off, taking a deep breath before narrating everything my mother had confessed.
Zander listened intently, his expression growing darker with each word. When I finished, his jaw clenched so tightly I feared his teeth might crack.
"How could she call herself your mother and still throw you to the jaws of death?" he growled, the raw anger in his voice making the air feel heavy.
I swallowed, trying to calm the storm brewing between us.
"Zander, she didn't fully realize the severity of what she was doing when she made the decision. At least, that's what she says."
His piercing eyes met mine, unrelenting. "And you believe that?"
I sighed, my hands trembling slightly. "When she saw that I had a life... a family... she regretted it. That's why she made the deal with the God of Destruction. She thought it was the only way to save me and the world.'
His brow furrowed, confusion flashing across his face. "The God of Destruction? What kind of deal?"
I swallowed hard, my hands twisting nervously. "She wants me to marry him. She believes it's the only way to stop the process and save everyone. If I don't... she says there's no other way to change what's already set in motion."
Zander's jaw tightened, his expression darkening. "She wants you to marry someone else? To that... god?" His voice was calm but carried an undercurrent of restrained anger.
I nodded, my voice barely above a whisper. "Yes, she thinks it's the only way to save me and the world." "Selena, listen to me. No matter what she says, we'll figure this out. Together. I'm not losing you, and I'm not letting you sacrifice yourself for some ridiculous plan."
Tears stung my eyes as I looked up at him. "But what if she's right, Zander? What if there's no other way? The clock is ticking, and I don't know what to do."
I felt so lost, my mind clouded by
confusion, and even my powers felt useless in the face of everything. I couldn't do anything to save the world, except die. It was as if fate had given me only two options:
sacrifice myself to the universe net
saving everyone else but losing
myself, or live with my family and mate, knowing that the world would eventually fall and destroy us all. The weight of that choice crushed me. If someone had to go, better me than everyone else. At least then, Zander and the kids would have a chance.
Zander seemed to read the turmoil inside me as he cupped my face gently, making me focus on him. His eyes locked with mine, unwavering and filled with determination.
"Then we'll find another way," he said, his voice firm but tender. "I don't care how impossible it seems. You're my mate, and I won't let anyone-god or otherwise-take you away from me."
Even, I didn't want to belong to another man, whether god or mortal. I only belonged to Zander Blake, and
if I had to face death, I'd rather die as his mate. The thought of living without him-of leaving him behind -was unbearable.
I closed my eyes, my heart heavy with guilt as I whispered a silent apology to my unborn baby.
If I had known my end was so close, I never would have thought to bring you into this world.
The pain of the guilt was overwhelming, knowing that because of me, my baby would never get the chance to see the light of day, to feel the warmth of life, or experience the beauty of the world. The thought of it shattered something deep inside me.noveldrama
"Zander," I spoke, my voice strained
with the weight of everything. "We have very little time. Before the destruction begins, we need to stop Damon and the Dark Alpha from bringing chaos into the world. searched his face for some sign of agreement, hoping he would understand the urgency.
"Because once the destruction starts, there will be no way to stop the process. Not even the God of Destruction can prevent it then." I added, my eyes locking with his, trying to impress the gravity of the situation.
Zander's gaze turned cold, his eyes distant, as if he were lost in his thoughts.
"You think this destruction is part of a larger process?" he asked, his voice low and steady.
I nodded, feeling the weight of the situation settle over me. As far as my knowledge and research went, yes, the destruction was a chained reaction, and it had a starting point. My gut told me that Damon and the Dark Alpha were up to something dangerous, and with the day of destruction fast approaching, there was no other explanation for their actions.
"That's why I met with Jasper-to find Damon, to track him to his hiding place." I informed him, my voice filled with urgency.
Zander took a deep breath, the tension in his shoulders easing as if he was coming to a realization. His eyes met mine, a quiet certainty in his expression. "I think I know where we can find him." "What?" My heart skipped a beat, his revelation catching me completely off guard.
