Chapter 666
Chapter 666 Desperate Prayer
"Blair, I'm telling you, this is a bad idea," I said, following her reluctantly as she led me down an unknown path along the outskirts, carefully avoiding the main routes where guards patrolled.
"Trust me, Selena, I've done this plenty of times," Blair replied confidently, pushing aside a low-hanging branch. "Back when my father was the alpha, I used to sneak out all the time to escape his dictatorship."
I rolled my eyes. "That was years ago, Blair. The pack's security isn't the same now."
She glanced back at me, realizing I had stopped in my tracks and sat down in the middle of the narrow trail, exasperated.
"What's wrong?" she asked, her voice softening with concern. "Are you tired? If you need to rest, we can, but we don't have much time if we want to help our mates."
I sighed and got back to my feet. "Blair, I still think this is a terrible idea. If Zander finds out we took this route, he'll be furious."
Her lips curved into a confident smirk. "If he finds out," she said, her tone teasing. "Don't worry. Nothing like that will happen." She spun back around, walking ahead without a hint of doubt. "Now, come on, unless you're too tired to keep up."
I muttered under my breath but followed her anyway. Deep down, I hoped she was right and that this would turn out okay.
But then, without warning, the air grew thick and foul, a nauseating stench filling my lungs. A dark, smoky haze began to creep through the trees, choking the atmosphere with its sinister energy.
Dark magic.
'Selena, be ready!' Arena screamed in my mind, snapping me into action.
Before I could shift, two witches materialized in the air, their forms cloaked in shadow and malice.
"Blair, get behind me!" I shouted, yanking her back as I whispered a spell under my breath. My hands tingled with power as I released the first strike, a glowing wave of magic aimed at the witches.
It seemed they had come prepared. Both witches struck simultaneously, their combined power shattering the protective circle I had hastily cast around Blair and me in mere seconds.
Before I could react, a gleaming, enchanted rope shot out, coiling around us tightly, binding us in its unyielding grip.
Arena writhed within me, her energy surging as she tried to break free. 'Give me a few moments, Selena,' she assured, her voice strained but determined. 'I'm close to breaking this magic.'
But my immediate concern wasn't just the ropes-it was Blair.
The witches began dragging her away from me, her frightened eyes meeting mine as she struggled against their hold.
"Wait! Leave her alone!" I screamed, desperation lacing my voice.
One of the witches, the one with dark, matted hair, turned to me with a sinister smirk. "Who do you think you are to command us?" she sneered. "This girl is a lapha's
daughter, and her blood will make us stronger."

Her voice dripped with malice, and my heart pounded at the filth of her confession. My mind raced, the implications of her words twisting in my gut.
"Who sent you?" I demanded, shouting to stall them, praying to buy enough time for Arena to unravel their magic.
The witch chuckled darkly. "You think we'll answer your petty questions, wolf?" she mocked. “Your friend will die, and then you'll be next."
Blair let out a defiant growl, her bravery shining even in the face of danger, but it only enraged the witches further.
'Hurry, Arena!' I pleaded silently, straining against the magical bonds with all my might.
'Almost there,' Arena assured, her voice steady despite the chaos. But before her magic could shatter their binding spell, my heart nearly stopped.
My blood ran cold as I saw the other witch grab Blair's hair, yanking her head to one side with brutal force. Blair screamed, struggling against
her captor, but it was no use. The witch's canines elongated, sharp and deadly, and my eyes widened in horror.
Realization hit me like a bolt of lightning-they weren't ordinary witches. They were vampire hybrids.
Oh, Goddess. Panic surged throughnoveldrama
me as I realized there was no time left. The witch was going to bite Blair and once she did, everything would be over.
I thrashed against the enchanted ropes, desperation clawing at my chest. "No! Stop!" I shouted, my voice raw with urgency.
But just as all hope seemed lost, a prayer formed on my lips, silent but desperate. Goddess, Help us, please.
As if the Goddess herself had heard my plea, two thunderous growls tore through the air, shaking the ground beneath us.
A massive black wolf and a powerful brown wolf charged into the clearing, their presence commanding and ferocious. My heart leaped with recognition.
What do you think?
