My Four Miraculous Treasures

Chapter 221

Truly, fate worked in mysterious ways.

The car sped off, and soon the girl's face had vanished from view, lost in the sprawling vastness of the city.

Jasper closed his eyes to rest awhile.

Soon, the car arrived at the police station, and he got out.

His private mercenaries were waiting to report the situation to him, "Frank Hughes came to personally declare that Edith Price has been officially absolved of all wrongdoing related to those misplaced fashion designs. He even signed a hardcopy declaration, in order to secure her release from prison. We had no choice but to comply: Edith Price has been freed."

Frank Hughes. Jasper's grandfather.

A celebrated war hero, now retired from service. Though he was a civilian homebody now, he retained his vast prestige and connections. Even Jasper himself had to show deference to him, to say nothing of grunts like them.

In any case, this was fundamentally an internal affair of Hughes Corporation, so if the head of the Hughes family extended a full pardon to Edith, and dropped all charges against her, then the matter was no longer within the jurisdiction of the police.

If Frank Hughes said Edith Price was to be released, that was all there was to it.

Jasper hadn't expected his grandfather to get involved in this matter with Edith. Now that he'd heard the specifics, he spent a moment deep in thought, then said, "If that's what he wants, then we'll abide by his wishes."

In the first place, Jasper had organized that whole fashion show just so Frank could pick out a designer dress to give to Cindy. With that in mind, if the old man didn't have a problem with what happened, then there was no problem.

Outside the police station, Jasper made a phone call to Frank. His voice low and menacing, he said, "This is the last time." And then he hung up.

At the other end of the line, Frank opened his mouth to speak, only to hear the abrupt tone of the call being ended. He frowned deeply.

Had Jasper just threatened him?!

The boy had never once taken such a tone with him before! Ever since that Willow Nason appeared in his life, Jasper had only been getting worse and worse!

Frank drew a long, ragged breath in dismay.

Meanwhile, at the headquarters of Hughes Corporation...

The moment she was free, the first thing Edith Price did was visit the salon for a full makeover. Then she returned to her former workplace, with some rehearsed excuse about tying up loose ends.

She wanted to see Jasper Hughes-just one last time—and bid him a final farewell.

However, Jasper wasn't in the building when she arrived. What's more, she heard something that made her blood boil with fury...

Willow Nason had replaced her as his personal aide!

Edith had faithfully remained by his side for ten years, yet she'd never managednoveldrama

to win a real place in Jasper's heart.

But then that strumpet came along, spread her legs for Jasper, and gained his favor just like that?!

Truly, a slut of no small means... Barely a month here, and she'd somehow risen from the lowly position of a cleaning woman all the way up to becoming the personal aide of the CEO himself!

It was too good for her!

Edith caught sight of a document discussing the recent changes in personnel. It only incensed her further.

Seeing the bleak look on her face, the receptionist Fanny was too scared to speak.

Across the lobby, two cleaning ladies chattered with each other as they went about doing some cleaning:

"How nice to be picked up by Mr

Hughes like that... even if she

doesn't make it all the way to becoming Mrs Hughes, it's still a huge leap forward for her," Jessica Stewart was saying. "From basic cleaning duties to a big executive position... she might even become one of the shareholders! Living off the dividends, she'd never have to work another day for the rest of her life!"
