Secrets Of The Neglected Wife

Chapter 1131

Chapter 1131:

Her words were smooth, but deep down, she knew it was a lie. Melany felt a twinge of panic but was secretly relieved that Colton hadn’t uncovered the truth about the shares.

When she had deceived Keanu and sold part of the shares to Muisvedo under the guise of helping Colton, she had siphoned off a portion for herself. Even so, the money she had taken wasn’t nearly enough.noveldrama

Now that she was pregnant, she knew she needed far more to secure a comfortable and stable future.

But Colton no longer paid her any mind. He sat there drowning his frustrations in glass after glass of wine before abruptly standing up, his mind set on going to see Allison.

“‘I’m sorry,’” he said softly, his voice unusually heavy. “‘I didn’t realize Abram was that kind of man. I always trusted you.’”

At that moment, Kellan stood beside Allison, his expression calm but sharp.

Hearing Colton’s apology, Kellan let out a faint smirk.

“‘Mr. Stevens,’” he began, his tone laced with indifference, “‘if you really trusted her, then why did you choose to handle everything behind closed doors?’”

Kellan’s words hit like a hammer—direct and unflinching.

“‘Why can’t you just be frank? Wasn’t it all just about protecting your own interests?’” Kellan added, his gaze steady.

Colton froze on the spot, unable to respond at first.

After a moment, he drew in a deep breath and said, “‘You’re right. I won’t deny it—I had my own selfish reasons.’”

Colton faintly noticed the scornful looks people were giving him. However, after everything he had endured that day, he didn’t think that one more moment of humiliation could bother him at all.

“The Stevens family is my inheritance,” he said, his tone firm. “It’s also the culmination of my grandfather’s entire life’s work. I can’t risk sacrificing it.”

He felt that the alcohol was making him more stubborn than usual.

“‘Allison, if you were who you used to be, you’d understand why I’m stuck like this, wouldn’t you?’”

His thoughts drifted back to the Allison he used to know.

Back then, no matter what choices he made, she had always been by his side. She never complained or blamed him, even when he pushed her away.

She had always supported him without expecting anything in return whenever he was in need of help.

But now, all of that felt like a distant memory.

Allison tilted her head slightly, her gaze fixed on him.

“‘Why would I understand that?’” she replied, her voice calm but firm.

She could easily tell that Colton had likely been drinking heavily.

“‘Mr. Stevens, to be honest, it doesn’t matter to me whether you believe me or not,’” she continued. “‘After all, you’re nothing more than a stranger to me now.’”

Allison’s smile lit up her face. She had been holding hands with Kellan, and she swayed their interlocked fingers as her eyes gleamed with a playful sparkle.
