Chapter 1135
Chapter 1135:
Before long, Allison and Kellan were back on the sofa, and she leaned in close, whispering in his ear.
“‘How about another massage when we get back?’” she asked.
“‘Allison, should I take that as an invitation?’” he teased.
“No, because I want to be on top tonight,” she replied with a playful grin.
“With pleasure,” he answered, a smile in his voice.noveldrama
It was rare for her to feel like everything in life was just right.
With someone special by her side, she felt calm and happy.
After his earlier ejection, Hoyt returned to the banquet hall, freshly treated for a broken finger.
This time, maintaining a subdued presence, he nonetheless caught Kellan’s eye.
“‘Well, bold enough to come back? Aren’t you scared they’ll throw you out again?’” Kellan challenged.
“‘It’s not your place, Kellan, and Mr. Morgan is still here. Aren’t you overstepping?’” Hoyt responded, his voice low, his teeth clenched in remembered pain and humiliation. Because he had come to this banquet alone, without his parents or his men, no one had defended him.
Power and influence dictated everything, he thought bitterly.
Deep down, he swore that someday, he would outshine Kellan.
Allison, overhearing, couldn’t help but think that Hoyt clung like a leech, impossible to detach.
He appeared eager to disclose something.
“‘You’re out of the loop, aren’t you, Kellan?’” Hoyt taunted, unable to conceal his smug look. “‘Dad has given me control of the project in Vrining. Now the largest manager here, I’m taking over our dealings with Fabian.’”
Despite being ousted by Fabian previously, a call from Brook had smoothed his return.
Now, although he was behaving more cautiously, Hoyt’s inherent arrogance was still palpable.
“‘I’ve come to discuss our ongoing projects with Mr. Morgan. We’re lagging behind the Dibya Group, you know.’” He spoke slowly, ensuring Fabian and others nearby could catch every word.
The crowd, all distinguished in their fields, exchanged knowing looks, fully aware of Hoyt’s motives.
“‘Isn’t that Hoyt Lloyd? Wasn’t he kicked out earlier?’” someone whispered.
“‘Must be Mr. Morgan’s doing that he’s back,’” another speculated.
“‘Actually, I think it was Mr. Brook Lloyd who fixed it,’” someone remarked.
Others focused on the business cooperation aspect.
“‘Hoyt’s too green to be throwing his weight around like this,’” one remarked.
“‘Yes, he’s only hurting his prospects and our view of him,’” another agreed.
“‘I can’t fathom his recklessness,’” a third added.
Murmurs spread through the crowd, their voices hushed so Hoyt remained oblivious. His sole aim was to curry favor with Fabian.
