Emily wasn't about to let Hayden's words get to her.

She knew the real drama was still to come, and the moment to leave Hayden speechless was just around the corner.

So she shot back, "Congrats, Dad. Never thought you'd risk it all just to win this lawsuit."

Hayden was taken aback.

Did Emily figure something out?

He stammered, "What... what are you talking about? I told you ages ago, you can't beat me. You just wouldn't listen. How does it feel now?"

"Emily, I'll say it again. Admit defeat, drop the lawsuit, and since we're family, I won't hold it against you!"

Seeing Hayden's smug face, Emily realized that from now on, she might really be on the opposite side of her father. They'd never have a normal father-daughter relationship again.

"I'm talking to you! How can you just leave? Everyone says a daughter is like a warm, comforting presence, but Emily, you're not just a little chilly; you're like a cold, empty room. I don't want you, never will!" Hayden yelled after her, while Sophia watched from a distance.

Seeing Emily leave, Sophia was annoyed and decided to follow. "Emily."

Hearing that familiar voice, Emily took a deep breath, thinking she had forgotten about Sophia.

She turned to see Sophia strutting over.

It had been a while since they last met, and Emily was surprised to see that after all the setbacks, Sophia had bounced back.

Emily couldn't help but admire Sophia's resilience.

As Sophia stood in front of her, Emily smirked and asked, "What do you want?"

Sophia replied, "Sort of."

Emily said, "Then spit it out. I have things to do."

So she got straight to the point. "I know you're wary of me, afraid I'll harm you... But Emily, look at me now. Michael's done with me, Dad's making up lies to get by, and my mom..."

Sophia laughed bitterly. "She's always dreaming of getting rich by following Dad around... But there aren't many good things in the world. Today, I want to talk to you about teaming up."

With that, Sophia raised an eyebrow at Emily.

She thought that in this critical moment, if she proposed teaming up, Emily would surely accept. After all, Emily had no one to rely on except Michael.
