Chapter 252 The Trial Failure
Michael shot back, "Is there a problem with me not giving you leave?"
Michael was clearly riled up by Emily's defiance. "Emily, don't forget, you have to face the Brown family in court in a few days. Why aren't you focusing on gathering evidence instead of hanging out at the hospital every day?"
"Isn't it your dream to take back the Brown family and honor your mom's legacy? What now? Are you going to throw all that away for some people?"
Michael's words hit Emily hard.
How could someone who knew nothing about her situation judge her?
And wasn't he partly to blame for the mess with the Brown family?
No wonder he was the president of Smith Corporation, always dodging responsibility and avoiding criticism.
Seeing the anger and slight dissatisfaction in Emily's eyes, Michael frowned and felt a bit uneasy. "Why are you looking at me like that?"
Emily replied, "I despise you, Michael, for always acting on your own feelings, for not accusing others without knowing the truth, and for living in your own world. It's ridiculous!"
With that, Emily turned to leave the office, but Michael grabbed her arm. The tension between them was thick, and neither was willing to back down.
Michael said, "What did you just say?"
Emily replied, "Wasn't I clear enough?"
Michael said, "Emily, do you have to go against me? Don't forget, I'm the one who helped you take the Brown family to court!"
Emily was furious, "Yes, I'm grateful. But now I'm the plaintiff again, and I no longer need to rely on Mr. Smith's favor. You can just stay here and run your company! Let go of me!"
Emily stormed out of the office with a harsh remark.
Michael stood there, torn between following her or staying and sulking.
His eyes turned red, and he punched the desk, muttering through gritted teeth. "Emily, you really don't appreciate a good heart."
The court date arrived quickly.
Emily had been counting down the days, following Isabella's advice to attend alone and gauge Hayden's intentions-whether he would accept his fate or cause trouble.
Isabella was convinced it would be the latter.
After all, they had been married for over a decade.
Halfway through the trial, Emily realized how accurately Isabella had read Hayden's mind.

"Your Honor, these are all the pieces of evidence I have! Of course, my witnesses can also testify that all the property from my ex-wife Isabella is now in my name. Some of it is legally recognized, and the rest was gifted by Isabella!"
"You can see for yourself, there are signatures from me, my ex-wife, and the legal notary. I wouldn't lie. Every penny I earn, including my Brown Corporation, is my hard- earned money! It has nothing to do with Emily! She doesn't respect her father and only schemes to get my property, making her stepmother and sister afraid to argue with her."
"Your Honor, you have to see the truth here. I'm the backbone of my family, and I can't be taken down by a villain! Brown Corporation can't crumble because of this!"
Hayden's dramatic plea left everyone in shock.
Emily sat in the plaintiff's seat, feeling the weight of everyone's eyes on her, including Sophia and Evelyn in the audience.
"Sophia, look at your sister overstepping her bounds. This is what she deserves," Evelyn said, clearly thrilled by how things were going for Hayden. But Sophia wasn't so sure it was that simple.
Today, she wore a black dress, red lipstick, and had her hair styled in fashionable
waves, looking every bit the high-and-mighty heiress she once was.
Sophia thought this would be her last chance to show off in front of Emily.
But as soon as the trial started, Hayden presented a bunch of fake evidence to deceive the judge.
Seeing this, Sophia sighed but also noticed Emily's calm demeanor. She analyzed the situation. "Look at Emily's steady posture. My dad is using fake evidence and witnesses. Even if the judge is fooled, Emily must know the truth. Do you think she sued my dad on a whim? Just wait, the real show is yet to come."
Hearing this, Evelyn quickly grabbed Sophia's hand.

She signaled her to be quiet and looked around, her expression turning sharp. "How can you support others and belittle your own family? Your dad is handling his matter. Don't get involved, and don't speak out of turn, understand?"
Sophia quickly responded. She had no intention of getting involved. Her only enemy was Emily.
"Don't worry, I know Hayden is unreliable. I won't get involved in his mess. If you hadn't dragged me here, I wouldn't be part of this." Sophia rolled her eyes and fell silent.
Evelyn, knowing she couldn't out-argue her daughter, held her tongue and focused on the trial, where Hayden's performance continued.
The judges were engrossed in his fabricated stories.
In the end, Hayden won the first round.
But this was just the beginning. The trial would continue with issues like Brown Corporation's asset liquidation and stock division, with the final hearing in three days.
This initial victory didn't mean much, but it boosted Hayden's arrogance.
He realized no one noticed his fake evidence.
The supposedly formidable judges were nothing to worry about.
So, Hayden feared nothing.
Facing Emily, he took on a fatherly tone and mocked her. "Emily, are you satisfied? This
is what happens when you sue your father. You'll be drowned in criticism and end up with a reputation for disrespecting me. You can't beat me!"
What do you think?
