The Sway and Slide of Love

Chapter 482

Seline arrived at the hospital very quickly.

"What happened? Didn't Rosie just get discharged this morning? How "

She wanted to ask more, but when she saw Noelle's red-rimmed eyes, she swallowed her words back down.

"It's all my fault," Noelle said softly. "I shouldn't have taken her to the supermarket. I shouldn't have argued with them. If only I had-"

Noelle didn't finish her sentence. Her lips were pressed tightly together, and her hands were clenched so hard that her nails dug into her palms.

Seeing this, Seline quickly grabbed her hands. "Nonsense! This isn't your fault. I know you, out of all people, would never want to see Rosie hurt."

Noelle remained silent, but this was even more alarming than before.

Seline opened her mouth to speak but quickly noticed something. Her voice rose slightly as she said, "Rosie, you're awake!"

At those words, Noelle seemed to come back to life. She immediately took Rosie's hand. "You're awake? Does it still hurt?"

Rosie shook her head slowly.

Her face was even paler now, and there was a thin layer of sweat on her forehead. So, Noelle knew she was in pain, causing her eyes to redden even more.

But Rosie suddenly called out to her, "Mommy."

Noelle nodded quickly. "What is it? What do you want to say?"

"Was that man my daddy?" Rosie's voice was faint, filled with hesitation and fear.

Noelle's grip on her hand tightened.

Realization finally dawned on Seline, who was standing nearby. She snapped her head to look at Noelle. "Did you two see him today?"

Noelle didn't answer, but from her expression, Seline already knew the truth.

Anger immediately flared within her. "So, Rosie got hurt because of him? Just what the hell does he want?"

"Stop. Don't say anything more," Noelle said in a low voice.

It was only then that Seline realized Rosie was still watching her intently, as if hoping to learn more about Hendrix. So, she had no choice but to hold her tongue.

Rosie turned to Noelle again. "I should have said sorry just now, right?" Her voice was barely a whisper. Noelle clenched her teeth.

"I did something wrong," Rosie continued. "I should have apologized."

Noelle found herself unable to speak.

Rosie soon turned her head and fell back asleep.

Noelle remained frozen, staring at Rosie's side profile.

"What exactly happened today?" Seline asked in a hushed tone.noveldrama

Noelle finally seemed to snap out of her daze. Then, she recounted the events at the supermarket to Seline.

At first, Seline listened calmly, but as the story went on, her expression grew darker.

"So what? He just stood there and

watched? How can he be so heartless as to force Rosie to apologize like that? Does he think pointing fingers from his high horse means he's done his duty as her father? He doesn't know, but I do.

"When you gave birth to Rosie, it was a difficult delivery. You had stitches, lost so much blood, and cried so much. He knows nothing about any of that! And after that, did he ever ask about Rosie's life or health? What right does he have to tecture you like that?

"If I hadn't found someone to help you take care of Rosie back then, you would've fallen into depression! So, what right does he have to judge you?"

Seline's anger grew with every word.

She couldn't keep it bottled up any longer and turned to leave to find Hendrix But when she opened the door of the hospital room, she realized she didn't need to go far.
