The World of Beasts: She's Got Their Hearts

Chapter 28

Finlay let out a soft whimper and finally loosened his tail around Analise.

"Can you shift back now?" Analise chuckled, picking up one of his massive paws and giving the soft pads a playful squeeze.

He let out another whine, and then Finlay shifted back into his human form, but there was a dazed look in his eyes.

"Ana....." he murmured, his voice full of longing. He pulled her into his arms, clinging to her like she was the only thing keeping him grounded. "I feel awful."

That soft, pitiful tone hit Analise right in the heart. She couldn't possibly say no to that.

"Alright. Let's get you inside first," she coaxed gently, her chin resting lightly against his collarbone.

"Mhm..." Finlay released her, letting her take his hand and guide him into the

room.

"So, how exactly do I help you?" Analise teased, eyes gleaming as she reached down and tugged on his tail.

She couldn't help herself at all.

Earlier, she had tried soothing him using her mind essence when Scott mentioned that Finlay was in heat. But she had purification power. Her mind essence didn't seem to work on Finlay at all.

Finlay was in heat. It wasn't a toxin or parasite. Her purification power was useless here.

Besides, her E-grade mind essence didn't come close to calming Finlay, who was in S-grade.

Even if she were S-grade, she would have had to stay by his side constantly to help him maintain control throughout the heat.

Right now, the amount of her mind essence was like offering a drop of water to someone dying of thirst when what he needed was a full bottle.

However, Echo had told her that while her mind essence couldn't help much, she could at least brew a Purification Potion to ease his pain and help him stay partially rational. Still, that physical ache would remain until the cycle passed.

Just like Scott said, Echo mentioned that mating was the most effective solution. He was in heat, after all, and there was only one method to resolve this.

However, Finlay was a therian. His stamina and endurance were several times that of a normal man Echo had specifically warned Analise not to even consider it. Her current body simply wasn't built to handle it.

Echo advised her to wait until she reached Purification Level 3. Then, she could purchase some

permanent strength-boosting items from the reward store. These items would continue to work even if she returned to the human world someday.

Analise wouldn't mate with Finlay. After all, she'd only been here for ten days.

Although she might scroll through videos of hot guys and let her imagination run wild, when it came to the real thing, she still got nervous.

Especially after what Echo said. It completely killed any crazy thoughts she might have had.

Not that she wasn't totally tempted by Finlay's body.

"Ana... let me be your mate, please," Finlay whispered, his lips brushing against the curve of her neck as he nuzzled her, breathing her in like she was the only thing grounding him.

"You said if I proved myself and I made you happy, you'd bond with me, and you'd let me be your mate."

Finlay might act carefree, but when it came to this, he meant every word.

"I want to prove myself. Will you let me?" His lips hovered near hers, brushing her mouth in a hesitant kiss.

Analise placed a firm hand on his chest, stopping him, but she didn't let go of his tail. "No."

"Why not?" Finlay's voice trembled in disappointment.

He could feel her interest since she didn't pull away. She even liked his tail, so why was she rejecting him?

"I'm starting my period tomorrow,"

she said. Then, she remembered the terminology was different here. "I

mean, my blood cycle starts

tomorrow. During that time, a.

bif

female's body is more fragile. If we

were to mate now, it could make me

sick."

Finlay hung his head, utterly dejected, and let out a tiny murmur. He nuzzled hisnoveldrama

chin against the top of her head, making a note of Analise's blood cycle date.
